关键时候能救孩子一命

大概半年前，从图书馆借来一本绘本：The spider and the fly. 从此，这本看上去语言并不简单的绘本，霸占了我家绘本冠军的交椅——孩子们几乎是每晚都要读至少一遍，就连三岁多点的妹妹都能把绘本中的诗句脱口而出了。

说起来，在图书馆预约这本绘本时，我完全不知道它是2003年卡迪克银奖作品，仅是因为这本绘本被推荐为适合美国小学K年级至一年级阶段的读物，所以就顺手一借。

当我把这本绘本握在手中端详时，不由倒吸一口冷气：插画全部黑白色调，就如同恐怖片一样吓人，孩子能喜欢吗？

就在我迟疑要不要给孩子读这本时，孩子们的小脑袋凑过来挤着来看封面。

“妈妈，这本书是The spider and the fly.”大娃指着书名说到。

“妈妈，你看，这个spider的腿多不多？”小妮指着封面中间的蜘蛛先生讨论起来。

“当然多了，”还没等我说话，大娃接着说：“蜘蛛有八条腿呢。你看，他头顶上还有眼睛呢。”

“嗯，对，这个是spider，蜘蛛先生，右下角这个是fly，是苍蝇小姐。”我指着封面右下角说。

“妈妈！”小妮迫不及待地叫起来，“这个fly还打着伞呢。”三岁多的小妮，特别喜欢她自己的小雨伞，整天盼着下雨能打伞，看见了苍蝇小姐也打着伞，她高兴极了。

（题外话，这个封面是绘本出版十周年纪念版封面，大蜘蛛霸占了封面中间位置，面目邪恶夺人眼球。这本绘本还有另一个封面，是下图。我家因为太爱这本绘本了，所以就买了一本珍藏，买到的绘本就是下面这样子的封面。这个封面形象地刻画了蜘蛛的狡猾奸诈、苍蝇的惴惴不安）

“Will you step into my parlor?” said the spider to the fly;

“’Tis the prettiest little parlor that ever you did spy.

The way into my parlor is up a winding stair,

And I have many curious things to show when you are there.”

“O no, no,” said the little fly, “to ask me is in vain,

For who goes up your winding stair can ne’er come down again.”

“I’m sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;

Will you rest upon my little bed?” said the spider to the fly.

“There are pretty curtains drawn around,

the sheets are fine and thin,

And if you like to rest awhile, I’ll snugly tuck you in.”

“O no, no,” said the little fly, “for I’ve often heard it said,

They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed.”

Said the cunning spider to the fly,

“Dear friend, what shall I do,

To prove the warm affection I’ve always felt for you?

I have within my pantry good store of all that’s nice;

I’m sure you’re very welcome;

will you please to take a slice?”

“O no, no,” said the little fly, “kind sir, that cannot be;

I’ve heard what’s in your pantry, and I do not wish to see.”

“Sweet creature!” said the spider,

“You’re witty and you’re wise!

How handsome are your gauzy wings,

how brilliant are your eyes!

I have a little looking-glass upon my parlor shelf,

If you’ll step in one moment, dear,

you shall behold yourself.”

“I thank you, gentle sir,” she said,

“for what you’re pleased to say,

And bidding you good-morning now, I’ll call another day.”

The spider turned him round about, and went into his den,

For well he knew the silly fly would soon be back again:

So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,

And set his table ready to dine upon the fly.

Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing

“Come hither, hither, pretty fly,

with the pearl and silver wing:

Your robes are green and purple;

there’s a crest upon your head;

Your eyes are like the diamond bright,

but mine are dull as lead.”

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little fly,

Hearing his wily flattering words,

came slowly flitting by.

With buzzing wings she hung aloft,

then near and nearer drew

Thinking only of her brilliant eyes,

and green and purple hue;

Thinking only of her crested head — poor foolish thing!

At last,

Up jumped the cunning spider, and fiercely held her fast.

He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,

Within his little parlor; but she ne’er came out again!

And now, dear little children, who may this story read,

To idle, silly, flattering words, I pray you ne’er give heed;

Unto an evil counselor close heart, and ear, and eye,

And take a lesson from this tale of the Spider and the Fly.

其中绘本中出现pantry一词，是指厨房里的储藏间，就如同下图

当你仔仔细细把绘本的插画翻看一遍后，你会有看恐怖片的既视感。每当我读到故事的结尾，我的脑海里总是浮现出章莹颖被绑架遇害案。事情发生在2017年的夏天，当时真是牵动了无数华人的心，章莹颖这位来美国某大学进行学习的访问学者因为上了一辆私家车，从此就在人间失踪了。

唉，每当想起这个可怜的姑娘就很让人心疼。世界是美好与阴暗共存的，愿我们的孩子不仅心存美好，也能正视阴暗。

这个蜘蛛和苍蝇的故事，我们就在紧张的气氛中读完了。这首诗歌故事从1829年流传至今，第一句will you walk into my parler?更是在所有的英语诗句中，经常被引用的耳熟能详的开头句之一，经常被用来表示虚情假意地提供帮助，或者实为陷阱的友谊。

绘本的插画内容也是非常丰富，很像是看一部好莱坞大片的感觉，对于习惯了五颜六色绘本的孩子们来说，这样的黑白色调可以称得上视觉盛宴了。

最后给大家附上绘本主人公的模版，可以打印出来剪好。在与孩子进行反复的阅读与复述中，拿着道具更直观地进行角色扮演。

妈妈也可以与孩子多多进行讨论，比如第一句will you walk into my parler? parlor就是客厅，妈妈可以启发孩子发挥想象力，想像一下或者是画一画蜘蛛先生的客厅是什么样子的呢？What might a spider's parlor look like? 再比如苍蝇小姐说：For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again. 上了你家楼梯的，就再也没人能活着走出来。妈妈问问孩子，这是为什么呢？

通过这样的互动，能充分发展孩子的想象力，逻辑推理能力，这也是我强烈推荐多读绘本的原因。
