今天的Scaredy Cats《胆小猫》，是其中非常有特色的一本。
Scaredy cats 在英文中的含义，是“胆小鬼”，而作者正是用这个耳熟能详的词语创作出一本萌萌哒，搞笑的，脑洞大开的，最重要的是，告诉我们什么是勇气的绘本故事。
讲了什么故事呢？
猫妈妈要选两只小猫去城里寄信，可是选谁呢？最后选了最小的两只小猫，两只小猫勇敢踏上征程，可是，在路上，他们是不是遇到了很多恐怖的事情呢？那么，他们有没有到达城里，并完成任务呢？。。。。。。
画风：Scaredy Cats 延续了Audrey Wood 本身偏漫画的画风，这次下笔更加细腻生动：先用黑色笔勾勒出线条，再用各种淡彩填充。整个图画看上去既线条鲜明，又清新活泼，色彩温暖。尤其是绘本中的主角是猫咪，毛茸茸的触感好可爱。好萌好萌啊~
语言特色：全文语言简练，更有多处重复，比如：What if...... 句型（要是...怎么办？），共在6个场景中出现次数达到19次。
每个场景开始前都有一句：Suddenly, Yellow Kitten began to wander and worry about scarey things. 重复多次，小朋友们在听读中，会很快掌握这些句子的含义哦。
最有特色的是加入了很多小童谣或者押韵的句子，孩子们会从中找到不少熟悉的童谣哦。比如：
Eenie-meenie-miney-mo,which of you will get to go?（这个类似于点点点，猜猜猜的游戏哦。）
The cat caught the rat,Heigh-o the derry-o,The cat caught the rat.（有一首类似的歌曲，叫做The farmer in the dell,山谷里的农夫 是类似的旋律呢。）
之后丹妈会在文末给大家一个总结，关于押韵的句子，歌谣等，大家可以收藏起来，和一些鹅妈妈童谣相对应。
这个故事非常适合玩儿过家家，丹妈建议，大家在阅读完绘本之后，可以和孩子一起利用家里的东西做道具，一起和孩子角色扮演，过家家哦。我会为大家奉上一些场景的扮演建议，大家可以参考。
阅读建议：因为故事比较长，对于年龄较小的孩子，比如2,3岁的小朋友，大家在阅读时，可以读一遍英文再读一遍中文，便于孩子理解。三四遍之后，看孩子的情况，再酌情减少中文翻译。
而年龄大一些的孩子，已经有了一定的英文基础，书中的对话可以只用英文，页面下方的大段英文可以加入中文，三遍之后，只用英文来读就可以了。

One busy morning,Mother Cat sat down and wrote a letter.
When she finished, she had a problem.
一个忙碌的早晨，猫妈妈坐下来写了一封信。
写完之后，她发现了一个问题。
“Oh fishsticks! Out of stamps.Someone must go to the Post Office.”
“哦，天呐，没有邮票了。得有人赶紧去邮局。”

Mother Cat called her seven children.Which two would go to town and mail the letter?
猫妈妈叫来了她的7个孩子。哪两个可以去城里寄信呢？
“Eenie-meenie-miney-mo,which of you will get to go?”

Everyone wanted to go. Finally,Mother Cat chose her two eldest kittens.
每一个小猫都想去。最后，猫妈妈选了年龄最大的两个小猫。

丹妈解析：小猫咪们的表情动作，没有一个是相似的，小猫咪们的毛发也各有不同。一下子就吸引住了小朋友们。

并不是每一页都先读图片下方的文字，再读图中的对白，要根据实际情况哦。丹妈这里也会尽量给大家写清楚的。
妈妈说的那句：Eenie-meenie-miney-mo,which of you will get to go？非常押韵。同时，Eenie-meenie-miney-mo也是外国小朋友玩儿猜猜猜或者捉迷藏时常用的开头。就好像我们说“点啊点啊点，点到谁就是谁”的感觉是一样的。

阅读小提示：书中有很多象声词，非常口语话的语言。
建议大家多多听音频，在给孩子阅读时，模仿音频中的声音，可以夸张一些。孩子们会更快地融入故事情节之中。

丹妈解析：两只小猫咪开心地出门去，同时唱着歌谣：
“The cat caught the rat,Heigh-o the derry-o,The cat caught the rat.”
这首歌谣是对大些的小猫咪们的反击:谁说我们抓不到老鼠，现在就抓住了！一语双关，两只小猫咪拿到了任务。
这首歌谣根据旋律，我们可以和鹅妈妈童谣中一首很有名的童谣相对应，那就是farmer in the dell （农夫在小溪谷），可以给孩子听这首歌谣哦。同样的旋律，不同的歌词，会让孩子们特别兴奋，就像发现了宝藏一样呢。
可以这样和孩子互动：

丹妈解析：作者给了我们一幅多么幽美的田园风光啊，真是一种视觉的享受。可以和孩子一起顺着路找一找，城镇在哪里呢？要经过些什么地方？猜一猜，两只小猫可以走这么远并完成任务吗？
可以和孩子这样互动：

丹妈解析：小猫们正式踏上了去城里的路，每遇到一个新场景，小猫们就会脑洞大开。
从这里开始，小猫们的对白开始出现 what if... 句型，表示：要是...怎么办？
这个句型一直延伸到最后一个场景，共19个，孩子们在听读中，亲子共读中，自然而然就吸收了这个用法。
“What is I sneeze,”Blue Kitten agreed, “and the coin jumps out of my paw?”
“Ahhh-Choooooooo”

丹妈解析：小蓝猫和小黄猫开始想象会遇到的坏事：万一打个喷嚏硬币就滚跑了怎么办？
图中金黄色的硬币竟然拟人化了，边跑还边唱歌呢。
Ginger bread Man是姜饼人的意思，这里也是有典故的，在西方童话里，这也是个重要角色呢。小姜饼人为了防止别人吃掉他，一直run, run, run as fast as he can. （跑啊跑啊，能跑多块跑多快），所以以特别能跑著称哦。
《怪物史莱克》中，还是重要角色呢。
“Coin，where are you?”“Here coin!”
“硬币，你在哪儿？”“来这儿硬币！”
“And then it hides,”Blue Kitten said, “and we cannot find it?”
“然后它藏了起来，”小蓝猫说，“我们找不到它怎么办？”
But the scaredy cats did not turn back. They walked on down the road to town.
但是胆小猫们没有返回。他们踏上了去城里的路。
丹妈解析：所有小猫们想象出来的画面，都用波浪线圈了起来，而正常的图画，就是用直线画成长方形圈起来的。小猫们各种找硬币的样子太萌了！

突然，小蓝猫开始胡思乱想，担心一些恐怖的事。
“What if something awful happens when we cross over? What if someone steal Mother’s coin?”
“How awful.”
“要是过桥时有糟糕的事情发生怎么办？要是有人偷了妈妈给的硬币怎么办？”
“太糟糕了。”
Key words: awful 恐怖的，糟糕的  steal 偷
丹妈解析：转换场景，来到了木桥前，这次换小蓝猫先胡思乱想了。同样，小蓝猫的描画也用了之前同样的手法，卷曲的胡须，发抖的身体，毛全炸着，整个儿胖了一圈。
而语言还是用的相似的句式和语言。孩子们开始熟悉这些用法了。
“What if a giant troll cat jumps up out of the water,”Yellow Kitten agreed, “growling and yowling at us?”
“And he grabs us and shakes us,”Blue Kitten added, “and wants to eat us up?”

丹妈解析：小猫想象出来的巨人，肯定就是巨猫了，所以文中用了 giant troll cat. 从这里我们也可以发现，英文本身是非常灵活的一种语言，它能够随时创造一些新词，读者还能够瞬间理解。包括下文中的：cat-bandits 猫匪， fishberry 鱼莓等等。发现英语之美了吗？

丹妈解析：作者用冷色调来给树林上色，突出了树林的恐怖氛围，而小猫们踮着脚尖走路，抱着树的样子，孩子们能轻易就感受到他们的恐惧。

丹妈解析：两个小猫抱在一起，想象自己找信找到老，是不是特别想笑呢？那么小的猫咪，竟然能想象自己老了的样子，拄着拐棍，驼着背，长长的胡须拖在地上，竟然是为了找一封信，是不是好惨啊！

丹妈解析：新场景出现，作者还是用孩子熟悉的手法，将瞎想的小蓝猫重点描画。注意两只小猫的胡须，是不是一个是卷曲的，一个是耷拉下来的呢？

“Heh,heh,heh!”
“Shhhhhhhhhh!Here they come.”
“要是猫匪在里面，正等着我们怎么办?”小黄猫表示同意。

丹妈解析：不同的场景，小猫咪就能想象出不同的让人害怕的东西。佩服小猫想象力的同时，也佩服作者的功力。
猫匪的穿着打扮可以让孩子们先观察一下，匪徒的特点是什么呢？戴着眼罩，拿着武器，颜色永远是暗色的，匪徒还是结伙作案呢。

突然，小黄猫开始胡思乱想，担心一些恐怖的事情。
“What if something woeful happens? What if we get lost?”
“How woeful.”
“要是有悲惨的事情发生怎么办？要是我们迷路了怎么办？”
“好悲惨啊。”
Key words: nettle 荨麻  weed 草，野草 woeful 悲惨的，可怕的
丹妈解析：荨麻这种草，丹妈专门查了一下，念 qian ,二声。 不是寻麻哦。这种植物是有毒性的，所以不太讨喜呢。

丹妈解析： Abra-cat-dabra, 是很多英语故事中，巫婆或者巫师们常用的咒语。在meg and mog 中，可爱迷糊的小女巫们，也是常常念这个咒语的。
Goosey-Goosey Gander, Whither dost thou wander?这也是鹅妈妈童谣中著名的童谣哦。
和孩子玩游戏时，当我们用到咒语的时候，就可以把 Abracatdabra用起来，每次施法之前，都来读这句咒语，熟悉这种可爱活泼的语言，也是培养孩子熟悉英语的一部分。

The scaredy cats wished they could go back home, but they walked on through the nettles, until they came to the high, rocky ledge.
Suddenly, Blue Kitten began to wander and worry about scarey things.
胆小猫们真希望他们可以回家，可是他们还是穿过了荨麻田，一直走到了高高的石崖上。
突然，小蓝猫开始胡思乱想，担心一下恐怖的事情。
“What if something hideous happens? What if someone steals us?”
“How hideous.”
“要是有吓人的事情发生怎么办?要是有人把我们偷走怎么办？”
“好吓人啊。”

丹妈解析：可以让孩子们注意一下，信件和硬币还有没有在小猫们的爪子里呢？经历了那么多困难，他们是不是一直紧紧守护着这两样东西呢？

“What if a great, screeching bird snatches us?”Yellow Kitten agreed.
“And takes us to its nest, high on a mountain top,”Blue Kitten added.

“然后把我们带到它的窝里，就在高高的山顶上，”小蓝猫接着说。
“嘎嘎！”

丹妈解析：这次小猫们开始担心自己的人身安全了。一次次的想象中，每一种想象出来的恐怖生物，在小猫的心里都是那么巨大，邪恶，相对于小猫咪们那弱小的样子，对比非常强烈。

“And,”Yellow Kitten said, “we have to feed and care for its ugly babies.”

丹妈解析：不得不说，小猫们飓风一般的想象力真的震撼了我，连被抓去给小鸟做什么样的服务都能想得这么有创意。

啊哈！在石崖的底下，小猫咪们来到了城里，邮局也并不难找。
“看！就在那里！”“我们走！”
丹妈解析：小猫们没有放弃，终于来到了城里。我们读者也是松了一口气，和他们一样露出了微笑。

Now, Mother’s coin could not buy a stamp. Mother’s letter could not be mailed.
How could the kittens go home without finishing their job?

现在，妈妈的硬币买不了邮票了。妈妈的信寄不出去了。
没有完成任务，小猫们怎么回家呢？

丹妈解析：胜利在望，可是小猫们却碰到了最可怕的事情，就是邮局没有开门。文中用了很长的一句话来形容小猫们的心情, “a truly bad and awful and dreadful and terrible and woeful and hideous thing happened.” 这句话中所有表示可怕的，糟糕的词汇，全是上文出现过的词汇，相当于一个小小的总结。
英语形容 “可怕的”词汇现在看来好多啊，丹妈绞尽脑汁，才用这些中文词汇给配齐整了。

A bus drove up and Grandmother Cat stepped out.
No one knew she was coming to Catville.
就在这时，小猫们得到了一个很棒的惊喜。
一辆公共汽车停下来，猫奶奶走了下来。
没人知道她来到了猫小镇。

“Grandmother!”“Do we have problems!”
“看，谁在这儿啊。”
“奶奶！”“我们遇到难题了！”
Catville 这个词汇也是作者专门创作出来的哦，一般来说...ville 代表地名，会翻译成...维尔 之类的，可是既然用了catville, 我们就直接翻译成猫小镇吧。
丹妈解析：慈祥的猫奶奶出现了，穿着花裙子，花白的毛发，戴着眼镜，正是我们记忆中奶奶的样子。
可以让孩子仔细观察图画，看看奶奶的着装，公交车的样子像什么呢？
可以和孩子这样互动：
How did Grandmother Cat come to catville?
（猫奶奶怎么来的猫小镇？）
By bus.
（乘公共汽车。）
What did the bus look like?
（汽车看起来像什么？）
A big cat.
（一只大猫。）
What color was Grandmother cat?

“We carried Mother’s coin and letter.”“troll cat, and wind, and bandits, and nettles and bird...”
The kittens told her about Mother’s very important letter, and about the scarey things.
“我们带着妈妈的硬币和信。”“巨人猫，还有风，还有匪徒，还有荨麻还有鸟......”
小猫们告诉她妈妈的重要的信，还有那些恐怖的事情。
When Grandmother Cat looked at the letter, it was her turn to be surprised.
The letter was for her! She opened it, and read out aloud.
当猫奶奶看到信之后，这次换她惊喜了。
这封信是给她的！她打开信，大声地读了出来。
“Dear Grandmother Cat, Why don’t you come for a visit? The kittens miss you. Sincerely Mother Cat.”
“亲爱的猫奶奶，您为什么不来我们这里串个门呢？小猫们很想你。诚挚的猫妈妈。”
丹妈解析：两只小猫就像找到了主心骨，和奶奶诉说着一路的辛苦，诉说着他们的任务。相信，在哭泣和诉说中，两只小猫那种恐惧和委屈的情绪，随着叙述，全部流淌了出来。
猫奶奶将两只小猫抱在怀里读信的样子，是不是很温暖，温馨？
Before they left Catville，Grandmother Cat took the kittens to the ice cream parlour.
She treated them all to fishberry cones.
在离开猫小镇前，猫奶奶带小猫们去了冰淇淋店。
她请他们吃了鱼莓味儿的甜筒。
“Which way are the bandits? Show me that old Troll Cat. You say there’s a witch up ahead?”
“Follow us Grandmother!”“We know the way!”
“到匪徒的路是哪一条？让我看看那只老巨猫。你说在上面有个巫婆？”

丹妈解析：一个欢乐的故事到此结束。猫咪们幸运地遇到了奶奶，信也正好是给奶奶的。还有什么比这更好的结局了吗？
孩子们在阅读故事中，跟随两只小猫体验了独自上路的旅程，随他们哭，随他们笑，随他们害怕，随他们大叫。但是也亲自见证了两只小猫在恐惧中不退缩的勇气。他们跌跌撞撞前行，他们也是幸运的，最终完成了任务。

玩法介绍：
1、这么萌的小猫咪，这么富有想象力的情景，我们一起来过家家吧。
将家里划分成几个区域，
第一个区域：猫咪的家。（比如卧室）
第二个区域：小路。（可以用家里的垫子或者纸板铺成一段小路，孩子体验感更强。）
第三个区域：小桥。（把家里的小凳子摆成一排，或者将家中的沙发当做小桥。）
第四个区域：树林（可以把孩子的积木摆在一片区域当做树林，家里如果有比较简单的凳子，可以将凳子倒过来当做树林。）
第五个区域：隧道，（可以用大纸箱，将两头拆开，平放在地上，孩子可以钻过去，当做隧道。我家有一个洗衣机的大纸箱，一直是叮当的隧道玩具哦。）
第六个区域：荨麻田。（家里不用的旧衣服或者旧毯子，铺在地上。）
第七个区域：悬崖。（用家里比较高的椅子，或者比较结实的茶几代替。）
将七个区域提前布局好，尽量能够在家里转着圈能走完。
妈妈就当做猫妈妈，守在家里，有二宝的孩子，两个宝贝做小猫咪，一个宝贝的，可以找来宝贝的朋友，和宝贝扮作两只小猫咪。写一封信，拿一个硬币，两只小猫咪一人一样东西，开始启程。
爸爸就当做每个区域中那个小猫咪想象出来的敌人吧。
每到一个场景，爸爸就跳出来扮作让小猫咪害怕的那个对象，边做动作，边说出书中的台词。
比如：桥上。两个宝贝走到桥边，爸爸就跳出来扮作猫巨人，边哈哈大笑，边说：I am going to eat you for my snack! 这句话可以多说几遍，接着再说：Give me the coin! 假装要抢硬币。
两个孩子则飞快地走过小桥。（让孩子注意安全哦。）
每个场景以此类推，和孩子一起嗨起来！
2、听过几遍故事之后，找出白纸，画笔，和孩子根据记忆，将小猫咪们去镇上的路线画出来，经过小桥，隧道，森林，荨麻田，山崖。。。
3、和孩子讨论独自出门完成任务的可能性。大一些的孩子，可以试着自己去超市买一些东西，或者给邻居送一些东西，爸爸妈妈当然可以偷偷跟着哦。
