第67期：Rain Or Shine风雨无阻；无论如何

小小常、常爸和迈克相约一起去远足。

小小常

I am so excited to go hiking this Saturday!（这周六要去远

足，我好激动啊！）

Mike

Me, too. But have you seen the weather report? It might be cold that day.（我也很开心，但你们看过天气预报了吗？那天可能会很冷。）

常爸

That's okay. I know we will be there, rain or shine!（没关系。我们一定会去，rain or shine！）

小小常

Is it going to rain? What do you mean, Dad?（会下雨吗？爸爸，你在说什么呀？）

常爸

I mean no matter it rains or it shines, we'll go hiking this Saturday. The cold weather won't stop us from enjoying our day!（我的意思是不管下雨或晴天，这个星期六我们会去远足。天冷阻止不了我们享受愉快的时光！)

Mike

That is a great attitude! We will have a fantastic hike!（就等你这句话了！我们的远足会非常棒的！）

根据韦氏词典，rain or shine常被用来指代：

① 就是下雨某事也会照常进行；

② 无论如何。

这个短语最早出现在1699年约翰·戈德（John Goad）的《天文气象学，或关于天体性质和影响的格言和重大论述》（Astro-meteorologica, or Aphorisms And Large Significant Discourses on the Natures and Influences of Celestial Bodies）一书中，原句是：

In the mean while we are told our Aspect brings a Settlement as to what happens, Rain, Or Shine, for many days;

与此同时，我们被告知，相位（行星与行星间的特殊角度）决定了长期发生的天气现象，无论雨天还是晴天。

从19世纪中期开始，rain or shine这个习语就经常用来指天气。后来这个短语既可以用来谈论天气，也可以谈论一般情况。

✍谈论天气时，是字面意思，表示风雨无阻。
