The very hungry caterpillar
本课堂实录是Chiara老师在意大利某小学课堂上进行的读绘本活动。英语的教学大概也和我们一样,为第二语言的教学。
大家可以收听本次课堂实录,学习老师在针对母语非英语的孩子,是如何用表情、动作、语言等多种方式来把绘本读得这么好玩。

老师:Hello everybody.
学生:Hello
老师:Today  I've got an animal in my ….(老师拉长声音,晃动手里的袋子)
学生:bag
老师:what is it? What do you think it is? It's small, it's an insect, it's green. When it grows up, it's a butterfly. What is it? Try to guess. Yes, Selina.(点名)
学生:caterpillar
老师:A caterpillar. You're right. (老师不动声色地纠正了孩子A caterpillar)
老师:Look, ohoh, he sees you(老师拿出一个毛毛虫的毛绒玩具,并以毛毛虫的口吻说话)Hello…
学生回应:Hello
老师:I'm a caterpillar. Say hello to your caterpillar.
学生:Hello. How are you?
老师:I brought a caterpillar, because I'm going to read you a story about A very hungry caterpillar.Would you like to listen to the story? Yes?
学生:Yes.
老师:Yes, okay, let's start. The very hungry caterpillar by Eric Carol. What is this?(老师指着太阳问)
学生:The sun
老师:The sun. The sun is shining. 
老师接着翻到下一页,指着月亮问:The sun?
学生:No
老师:No, it's the moon. Is it the day or night?
学生:Night.
老师:It's night. The moon is shinning on a …(老师指着叶子问)What is this?
学生:Leaf
老师:On the leaf, there is a little egg. A very little white egg. 
老师翻到下一页:It's Sunday. The little egg breaks. Bang  and out of the egg comes a caterpillar, a very little nice caterpillar. (老师拿出毛毛虫玩具并模仿毛毛虫钻出了的样子)Hello...The caterpillar is…(老师摸肚子)
学生:Hungry.
老师:Hungry. Very hungry. (老师扮演毛毛虫)I'm hungry. I want food. (老师扮演毛毛虫啃了某东西)ohh, disgusting. I don't like it. I want food. I'm hungry.
老师接下来问孩子们: What does he like do you think?  What does he eat? (点名)Does he like chocolate? No?
学生:Fruit.
老师:Fruit and plants and leaves. Okay?
学生:Seeds
老师:Seeds. Maybe I don't know. So on Sunday morning, the caterpillar starts to look some food. Okay? On Monday, the caterpillar eats one…
学生:apple
老师:One apple (老师发出毛毛虫吃苹果的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like apples. (问孩子们)Do you like apples?
学生:Yes
老师:So does the caterpillar. But…(老师摸肚子并扮演毛毛虫说)I'm still hungry. (老师拿起毛毛虫玩具并对它说)Okay, caterpillar, you had one apple for some food. Okay. So the caterpillar goes on.On… (老师拉长声音等着孩子们回答,但是孩子们没有get到,老师换了一种说法)On the day after Monday…
学生:Tuesday.
老师:On Tuesday the caterpillar eats two pears.(老师发出毛毛虫吃梨的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like pears.(问孩子们)Do you like pears?
学生:Yes
老师:Yes. So does the caterpillar. (接着老师摸着肚子,肚子里咕咕叫,老师扮演毛毛虫说)But I'm still hungry.
老师:Well caterpillar, you had …(引导孩子们一起说)
齐声:one apple, two pears .
老师:okay, go for some food. On…Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday(师生齐声)the caterpillar eats three plums. (老师发出毛毛虫吃李子的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like plums. (接着老师摸着肚子,肚子里咕咕叫,老师扮演毛毛虫说)oh, no, I'm still hungry.
老师:well caterpillar, you had (引导孩子们一起说) one apple, two pears, three plums. That's enough. (老师扮演毛毛虫愁眉苦脸)I'm hungry.
老师:okay. On…Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday(师生齐声)the caterpillar eats four strawberries. (老师发出毛毛虫吃梨的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like strawberries.hmmm (接着老师摸着肚子,肚子里咕咕叫,老师扮演毛毛虫说)Ohh,I'm still hungry.
老师:(拿起毛毛虫玩具对它说)caterpillar, you had…(引导孩子们一起说) one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries. Now stop. You are going to burst.
老师扮演毛毛虫大哭,并说:I'm still hungry.
老师摸了摸毛毛虫的头,安慰说:Oh, caterpillar, go go for some food.
老师: On Friday, the caterpillar eats (引导孩子一起数数)one two three four five oranges. (老师发出毛毛虫吃梨的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like oranges.mmmm,  Very good. (接着老师摸着肚子,肚子里咕咕叫,老师扮演毛毛虫说)Ohh,I'm still hungry.(师生齐声)
老师:no, caterpillar,  you had…(孩子们一起说) one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries,five oranges. Now stop.
老师扮演毛毛虫大哭,并说:oh, please. I'm hungry.
老师:oh poor caterpillar,okay, go for some food but then stop.
老师拿起书:Do you want to see what the caterpillar eats? Yes or no?
学生:Yes!
老师:Oh no, look, one piece of chocolate cake , one ice cream cone, one pickle, one slice of cheese, one slice of salami , one lollipop, one slice of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon. At night, he had  a stomach.  (老师扮演毛毛虫肚子疼)
老师:well caterpillar, you had…(学生一起说)one apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries,five oranges.(师生齐声)one piece of chocolate cake , one ice cream cone, one pickle, one slice of cheese, one slice of salami , one lollipop, one slice of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon. Ok? Now you got a stomach. Ohh, poor poor poor caterpillar.
老师:on Sunday again, the caterpillar eats one green leaf. (老师发出毛毛虫吃叶子的声音并扮演毛毛虫说)Delicious, I like leaves. Now I'm better, much better.
老师对着孩子们说:Can you ask the caterpillar How are you?
学生:How are you?
老师扮演毛毛虫:I'm fine, thank you. Leaves are healthy, very good for your body.
老师:Is the caterpillar now small?
学生:no.
老师:No, he is big. Is this caterpillar thin?
学生:no.
老师:No,he is fat. Very fat. Look. 
老师给孩子们看书: the caterpillar is big and fat. the caterpillar builds a house around himself called a cocoon. He stayed in the cocoon for more than two weeks. Monday,(师生齐声)Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,Sunday.Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,Sunday.Monday…老师扮演毛毛虫破茧而出。(老师重复一周七天的说法)
老师:The caterpillar starts to nibble a hole in cocoon. The hole(老师用手展示出hole的样子)he pushes his way out … and now he is a beautiful butterfly. Clap for the caterpillar.
学生鼓掌。
老师拿着毛毛虫玩具并扮演毛毛虫说:Thank you, Thank you very much. thank you. 
And That's the end.
这位老师在讲读绘本时,并不仅仅在读绘本,而是非常会演,也很注重与孩子们的互动与重复。
读绘本要会演,尤其是面对年龄较小的孩子,活灵活现风趣幽默,丰富的面目表情、夸张的肢体语言,才能抓住孩子的注意力。
除了会演外,还要多互动多重复。
比如,她会提示孩子们星期几的说法: The day after Monday is... / Monday, Tuesday... 与孩子一起重复了好多遍,孩子在重复中就会说这些单词了。
比如毛毛虫吃了什么食物后,老师借助和毛毛虫对话这个机会,会领着孩子们一起把吃过的食物算重复去说。
再比如,老师扮演毛毛虫每次吃完后,都会说一句:Delicious. I like.... but i'm still hungry.
这一句说了很多遍,孩子们听了很多遍后,也能跟着老师把这一句说出来。
所以,这位老师给了我们很好的启示,在给孩子读绘本时,要注意在创造的各种情境(角色扮演)中多重复。单词多重复、句型多重复,引导孩子和你一起反复去说。重复不仅能给孩子安全感,还能给孩子自豪感,还可以给爸爸妈妈老师孩子所需要的成就感。
