Vinci
Edward Yan(Fessenden School 8年级)、Bryan Wang(Junior at Brandis University大三)、Joshua Wu(莱镇高中10年级)、Mandy Meng(Vinci创始人)、Chenyu Lin(Vinci老师)成立了一个志愿者小组,帮助当地有特殊需要的学生学习机器人和STEAM 课程。
3月,Vinci受益于CEL(莱镇的社区捐赠基金会)和ACMES(美国华人医学交流协会)提供的资金和各种支持。

Local robotics team 10102X Esquipium from Vinci Robotics Academy in Burlington qualified for the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship and won a Community Services Award from the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) and VEX U Community Online Challenge, sponsored by Google and the Robotics Education and Competition (REC) Foundation.
The high school team of volunteer students Edward Yan from Fessenden School, Lexington High School Juniors, Joshua Wu, Mya Gordon, Andrew Lu, and Sophomore, Chi Zhang, Che Liu. Acton-Boxborough High School Freshman, Jinke Wu, along with Coaches, Chenyu Lin and Mandy Meng. The team is one of only ten high school teams from the United States who won the Community Services Award at the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship held in Dallas, Texas, May 2nd to 7th.
Beginning in 2021, the team spent Saturdays and school breaks helping local kids with Autism Spectrum Disease (ASD) to learn robotics and STEM knowledge. This special robotics education program is founded and led by students, Edward Yan, Joshua Wu, and Bryan Wang, and is offered free to families with ASD kids. The volunteers taught special needs students with one-on-one, hands-on building, design, coding and driving demonstrations in the Vinci workshop. They also hosted an Engineering Challenge at the Lexington Community Center. The program is funded by the Community Endowment of Lexington (CEL) and the American Chinese Medical Exchange Society (ACMES).
The award is presented to VEX Robotics teams who make a positive impact on STEM educational opportunities in their community through leadership, outreach, mentorship, and support. There were over 800 high school teams competing in the 2022 VEX Robotics World Championship, and over 5000 teams worldwide from elementary to college levels. It is the largest robotics competition recognized by Guinness World Records and the fastest growing K - 12 robotics program globally.
“I am very proud of Team 10102X. They are a talented, kind and dedicated group of students who came together from neighboring towns, during a pandemic, working hard and sharing their robotics and STEM knowledge with the special needs kids. The Google Community Services award they received was well-deserved and a great achievement.” - Chenyu Lin, Head Coach, Vinci Robotics Academy.
Winning the Community Service Award is my proudest and most unforgettable moment in my 5 years of robotics. It was an honor giving out my knowledge and skills by helping special needs students. I would like to thank my coach and parents for giving me the chance to make this program come to life; I would also like to give a huge shout out and thank you to everyone on our team. This year has been unforgettable because of them, and I can’t praise them enough for the great work they’ve done during their time at Vinci. We will continue to devote our time and efforts to support the people in our community. -Edward Yan
“We are honored that we could serve the community as a team and help other students in an impactful way. We are overjoyed and humbled to win the opportunity and go to the world stage. We learned lots from this experience from each other as well as teams from all around the world.” - Joshua Wu
“I joined a volunteer team at Vinci to help special needs kids learn STEAM . I’m happy I can help them. I feel like I grew up with them. I learned to treat every child gently and with great patience. I try my best to let them learn more STEAM knowledge and make them have a better future.”—Chi Zhang (Edison)
“At Vinci, I do this volunteer work to help students with ASD, and to make a difference in their lives. While my job may not be as significant as their doctor or teacher, I hope that at the very least, I helped them enjoy their time at the program and learn something new. In my time with the program, I built bonds with my fellow volunteers and the students who I helped. It has been an invaluable experience for me, and I hope that it has helped to make the community a better place. “ —Che Liu
“In this competition I learned the importance of teamwork, also let me know where I need to improve. And the importance of experience.” - Jinke Wu(Cody)
“I was really excited to attend such a big world event. It’s eye-opening experience to see high schoolers from all over the world come together and compete - their creativity in designing the robotics and their strategy in winning the matches. I am also proud to be part of the 10102X team that helps local kids with autism spectrum diseases in this pandemic.” - Andrew Lu
