Boston市区的停车非常贵，车位有的时候会很紧缺。
尤其是Fenway, Backbay和Downtown那一片，地下车库月租300很正常，地面固定车位的车库月租200+也非常合理。
更因为这些地方的公寓都比较老，当年建造的时候汽车还是很稀罕的，根本就没有预留车位的规划！
所以，你在波士顿漫步的时候会发现马路的一侧或者两侧都变成了停车位。

一般路边还有这么一个牌子
这就表明，这条街箭头所指方向只有申请了Resident Parking Permit的车才可以停。
还有的牌子上带时间，这里不解释了，文章末尾会附上一份指示牌的详细说明。
而申请了Resident Parking Permit的车都会有一个sticker，贴在后窗上，会有人定时巡查。
如果你没有申请Resident Parking Permit却停在这里；那么如果运气不好，就会收到25-40左右的罚单，具体价格视区域而定（靠近市区的地方贵，偏一点的地方便宜）

好吧，有点偏，咱们再回来说Resident Parking Permit...
首先说下这个网站，http://www.cityofboston.gov/Parking/residentparking/波士顿的residentparking的官网，最权威，没有之一。以下信息基本都来自这里。
再说正题
这段话就是说，波士顿的街泊项目是为了帮大家更方便的找在街上找到车位，他们将很多居民区所在的街道都列为Resident Parking Only，也就是只能居民这里停车。当然，他们也列了一小部分车位为Visitor Parking，没有resident parking permit的也可以临时停一下。
Resident Parking的牌子上面见过了，下图是Visitor Parking的牌子
这是说除了周日、法定假日以及每天晚上6点之后早上8点之前，这里可以随意停，多久都行；平时的时候，每天的8am-5pm每次只能停2小时。超时存在被罚的风险。
这段是说：
申请Resident Parking Permit需要先将之前的所有罚单交齐； 
Resident Parking Permit 对有允许的人不收费，完全免费。
办理地点是the Office of the Parking Clerk, Room 224, City Hall；可以本人、本人代表或者网上申请办理。
办理来的Sticker要贴到后挡风玻璃上，右侧。
下面针对Student说一下办理详细流程，当然，非student也几乎是完全一样的流程

Street Signs You Will See and What They Mean
Visitor Parking, 2 hrs MF 8-6 – This means that, between 8-6 on Mon through Friday, you can parkin this area for 2 hours. At all other times such as Sunday, you can park here for as long as you like.During the week, you have the two hours as noted, but if you park at 4:00 p.m., your two hours would end at 6:00 after which you can park for as long as you like. So, you can park here beginning at 4:00p.m. during the week and stay as long as you need.
Residential Only 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. – This means that only those with South End residential stickers can park here from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. every day, weekday or weekend included. This area would not be a good choice for parking, unless you are willing to take the chance that you won't be ticketed toward the end of liturgy.
Residential Only – Unless you have a South End residential sticker, it is illegal to park here regardless of whether it's a weekday or weekend.
Handicap Parking – Unless you have a handicap plate or placard, it is illegal to park here at any time.You may even be towed. A handicap violation gets passed onto your insurance carrier for a surcharge.Avoid these spaces unless you can validly park here.
Street Cleaning, Tow Zone – These signs restrict parking only during the times noted, which are typically in the overnight hours. It is generally alright to park in these areas, but look out for other signs that may otherwise restrict parking.
Tow Zone - No Parking Except Commercial Vehicles, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Except Sunday –Commercial vehicles may only park here during the hours and days noted. You may park here after7:00 p.m. during the week and all of Sunday for as long as you want.
Parking 2 Hour Limit, Mon-Fri 8am – 6pm – Vehicles may park here only 2 hours during the posted days and times. At all other times such as Sunday, you may park here for as long as you want. You can actually park here beginning at 4:00 p.m. during the week and stay as long as you need, since the 2 hours will bring you to 6:00 p.m.
Tow Zone, No Stopping Any Time – This is an illegal parking space and you could be ticketed or even towed.
Parking 2 hour limit Mon.-Fri. 8am-6pm except resident sticker – This means that you can park here for 2 hours from 8am to 6pm on Monday through Friday. You may park here outside of those days and hours and on Sunday's for as long as you want. If you have a South End resident sticker, you can park here anytime for as long as you want.
Visitor parking 2 hour Limit Mon.-Fri. 8am-6pm – This means that you can park here for 2 hours from 8am to 6pm on Monday through Friday. You may park here outside of those days and hours and on Sunday's for as long as you want.
Tow Zone Drop off/Pick up 10 min park Mon-Fri 8am-4pm – This means that from Monday through Friday between 8 and 4 you can park here only 10 minutes. On all other times, including Sunday, you can park here as long as you want.
Tow Zone No Stopping 4pm-6pm Mon-Fri – This means that you can't park here from 4-6 on Monday through Friday. At all other times, including Sunday, you can park here.
