As we tell 2022 to fuck off once and for all and welcome 2023 with both a smile and a suspicious eye - the 8 Hour Rock and Roll Club heads to the cavernous wonders of C's Bar for a special 'Happy Punk Year!' For the occasion, we'll welcome one of the punk scene’s most vital characters - Gum Bleed - as well as one of Shanghai’s most infamous acts - Zilu. In addtion, the Transmission Vinyl Crew, consisting here of DJ BO and Manuel Misterioso, will be on hand keeping the tunes spinning. Kicking off the event will be a special offline editon of The Critical Music Club - hosted by BO - where a motley crew of ‘musicians, DJs, music writers, and miscellaneous miscreants’ will discuss their favorite tracks of 2022.

One of the punk scene’s most steadfast outfits, Gum Bleed, have been going strong for well over 15 friggin years - sticking to their guns through thick and thin, belting out one rallying call after another. There’s an urgency and resonance to the blunt potency of Gum Bleed’s words that’s unshakable. And filtered through the band’s old school, take-no-prisoners, meats-and-potatoes street punk, it feels more timely than ever. Joining them this special evening are Shanghai DIY genre-thrashers Zilu, whose candid, vivacious, and volatile punk rock has returned once again with a vengeance and a spanking new lineup. Kicking off the evening from 8pm to 9pm will be a very special mini edition of the Critical Music Club - a weekly music discussion group open to people of all knowledge/experience levels. To sign up to submit and discuss your "2022 Songs of the Year," hit up DJ BO on WeChat at BrianOffenther - although everyone is welcome to sit in and watch. Gum Bleed 牙龈出血
牙龈出血(Gum Bleed)乐队 2006 年成立至今，活跃于北京与全国各 地的 live house 和音乐节演出现场。
15 年来，他们在中、美、德、澳大利亚、马来西亚等多国共出版了 6 张唱片和合辑，经历了 6 次境外巡回，累计在国内外完成了近千场演 出，是国内最具国际影响力的摇滚乐队之一。
乐队在国内曾多次参加迷笛音乐节、草莓音乐节、北京朋克音乐节、 重庆朋克音乐节、上海朋克音乐节、6789 海洋音乐节、星光音乐节、 火箭音乐节等。
牙龈出血乐队以其国际巡演经历和影响力著称:2009 年至 2019 年， 十年间 6 次境外巡演，完成了近 200 场演出，并成为首支登上德国 Force Attack 音乐节、Resist to Exist 音乐节，芬兰 Puntla Rock 音乐节，丹麦 Days of Fury 音乐节，捷克 Pod Parou 音乐节等一系 列户外大型摇滚/朋克/硬核音乐节的中国乐队。
疫情前的 2019 年夏天他们与 DRI, Conflict, The Casualties, Total Chaos 等欧美传奇乐队同台。
乐队的音乐涵盖了 Punk, Rock, Hardcore, Metal, Thrash 等等风 格与流派，并逐渐由最初直接的硬核朋克类型音乐向融入了 Alternative，Post Punk 等元素的更加丰富内敛的摇滚乐转变。快速流畅、巧妙动听的配器，高密度与高水准的编排，睿智、严谨的 歌词，饱满、雄浑的合唱，激烈、大气、极富煽动力的现场表演...... 构成了他们独树一帜的音乐风格，诠释了他们对于朋克摇滚在中国的 传承和发扬起到的推动作用。
2021年他们正式推出新专辑《朋克拯救人类》(Punx Save the Human Race)，这是继《烽火少年》(2009)和《英雄城》(2014)后的第 3 张全长录音室作品。由 D.O.G 厂牌发行，德国 Ring of Fire、德国 Toanol、波兰 Bad Look 等 3 家欧洲厂牌代理，专辑以数字、CD、12 寸黑胶形式在全球发行。在收获各国乐迷追捧的同时，被欧洲最权威的朋克摇滚杂志 Ox Fanzine 评选为年度全球 Top of the Release 第 4 名(其他入围乐 队包括 Dropkick Murphys,Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Rumjacks 等); 单曲《解放日》入围“耳帝”2021 华语 100 首最佳歌曲。

The Transmission DJ Crew was formed this year by disgruntled diggers, vehement vinyl lovers, esoteric sonic snobs, and cuddly gentlemen with sensitive hearts. Their goal is to bring quality tunes to venues around town. This is based in rock music, but also includes archaic fields like early trip hop and soul. They've got shows at YYT OG and C's under their belt, and look to 2023 to expand their horizons in other cities around China.

The grizzled veteran of the Transmission Crew. Originally from the USA and raised by Chuck Berry, “Shanghai's #2 DJ” is a road warrior and has spun music in 28 countries and 34 cities in China. He's been featured in The Guardian, Vice, and the Wall Street Journal for his music explouts and has DJed on bills with: The Buzzcocks, Afrika Islam, !!!, Doug Stanhope, and DJ Mitsu The Beats to name a few.
Manuel Misterioso
Manuel Misterioso – Born in a shadowy barrio in León, Manuel Misterioso has no future and a shady past: he lives and dies for the now. He specializes in spinning records of vintage Spanish stomping virtuoisity, like Iberian yeye, mod, and garage.
The Critical Music Club is a weekly online discussion group formed by DJ and initially kicked off January 13, 2022. It's an all-rockin' roundtable, a chance for musicians, DJs, music writers, and miscellaneous miscreants to meet and talk tunes. People of all knowledge and experience levels are welcome to attend, with music from the 40s to today, African amapiano to Beijing punk, all having being covered. Special guests have included Grammy winners, #1 hit songwriters, and local legends. January 1, 2023 will be the 44th meeting. Happy Punk Year will feature a special in-person only mini-CMC running from 8pm to 9pm.
