英国新冠确诊人数新高，加强防控政策遭抵触

Britain reported 78,610 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily number since the start of the pandemic, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 11,010,286, according to official figures released Wednesday.The previous highest number of cases was on Jan. 8, 2021, when 68,053 cases were reported.

根据周三发布的官方数据，英国报告了78,610例新冠肺炎病例，这是自冠状病毒流行开始以来的最高单日数字，使英国冠状病毒总病例数达到11010,286例。此前的最高确诊人数是在2021年1月8日报告的68053例。

Another 4,671 Omicron cases have been confirmed in Britain, the biggest daily increase since the COVID-19 variant was in the country, taking the total Omicron cases found in the country to 10,017, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said Wednesday.

英国卫生安全局(UKHSA)周三表示，英国又确诊了4671例奥密克戎病例，这是自英国出现COVID-19变异病毒以来最大的单日增幅，使确诊的奥密克戎病例总数达到10017例。

Facing a wave of infections in the United Kingdom from the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus, Prime Minister Boris Jonnson has introduced "Plan B" in England. Which calls for people to work from home if possible, wear masks in public, and use vaccine passes.

英国首相鲍里斯·约翰逊面临新型冠状病毒奥密克戎变种在英国的感染浪潮，在英国推出了“Plan B”的防控政策。该法案要求人们尽可能在家工作，在公共场合戴口罩，进入部分场所使用疫苗护照。

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson faced a mini revolt in the United Kingdom Parliament on Tuesday, as some lawmakers from his ruling Conservative Party pushed back at restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus.

但是在周二英国首相鲍里斯·约翰逊在英国议会遭遇了一场小型抗议，他所在的执政党保守党的一些议员反对旨在减缓新型冠状病毒奥密克戎变种传播的限制。

Despite the challenge posed by the variant, the call for virus passports was controversial among some Conservative Party lawmakers, who said they were draconian.

尽管这种变异病毒带来了挑战，但是一些保守党议员对病毒护照的要求仍存在争议，他们认为要求很苛刻。

Conservative Party lawmakers also observes sensitivities about curbs on movement are on show in a number of European cities. In Vienna, about 1,400 police officers were called out to keep watch at the Saturday protest, which attracted an estimated 44,000 people, and followed a similar demonstration in the Austrian capital the previous week. A health pass is also required in Spain, where police said about 1,000 people demonstrated in Barcelona against the rule.

Many scientists say the measures brought in by the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson are unlikely to be enough.The Guardian quoted Health Secretary Sajid Javid as saying they are far less strict than measures throughout much of Europe.

许多科学家表示，首相鲍里斯·约翰逊的政府所采取的措施可能还不够。英国《卫报》引用卫生大臣萨伊德·贾维德的话，“这些措施远没有欧洲大部分地区的严格”。
