Summary
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Software Development: Software design, development and verification in controlled laboratory and testbed environments.

  • Strategic Partner Ecosystems: Contribute to co-creation efforts with strategic partners for differentiated tools and techniques pertaining to cloud networking fabrics. Create and test prototypes in real and simulated lab setups.

  • Technology Innovation Ecosystems: Contribute to international innovation and incubation ecosystems to Identify, Qualify, Define, and Drive new sciences, technologies, and systems that will enable Vmware success in the future marketplace being shaped by fusion of 5G, Distributed Cloud and AI.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Advanced Mathematics with experience in software engineering.
  • Strong software programming skills: Java, Python, Go, Scripting
  • Hands-on experience with Machine Learning tools, e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit Learn, Keras.ioExperience with Git or similar and embedded SW Development environments
  • Communications networking technologies, 3GPP and non-3GPP wireless systems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and to drive collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to speak effectively to various technical and management levels.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create intellectual property through patents

Summary
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Your highest priority, and at least 50% of your time, will be gathering requirements from customers, translating them in technical specs and developing them into new features or enhancements to existing functionalities.

  • You will often Interact with other product & development teams, gather requirements & perform analysis to determine appropriate solutions. You will spend time contributing to backlog grooming and cross-team conversations about the demands and mechanisms for executing on your assignments. 

  • The rest of the time, you will also need to consult and educate VMware employees to the current existing practices related to the platforms and applications you support.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completing BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to learn quickly new systems and technologies and be able to configure and develop solutions
  • Willingness to use different programming or scripting languages and frameworks to address the specific product needs (JavaScript, Groovy, Go, Python, Ruby, etc.)
  • Willingness to use different reporting and analysis tools and applications to address business analysis and reporting needs
  • Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to gain experience with DevOps and automation, integration, and orchestration tools
  • Ability to produce clear documentation as well as organize and prioritize concurrent assignments
Preferred Experiences:

  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL or time-series databases

  • Experience with business analytics or reporting tooling
  • Experience managing UNIX/Linux systems

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git, SVN)
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration systems (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with automation and configuration management systems (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chef)

  • Understanding of filesystems, quotas, RAID, LVM, NFS, SAN, iSCSI, FC, Samba and overall system administration
  • Experience with APIs
  • Experience designing and developing microservices
  • Knowledge in CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins
  • Knowledge and understanding of enterprise IT processes and ITIL
