今年，世界卫生组织（WHO）与合作伙伴共同举办世界防治疟疾日，并分享那些正接近消除和已消除疟疾的国家所取得的成就，这些国家为所有正在努力消除疟疾并改善人民健康生活的国家提供借鉴。

4月21日，世界卫生组织发表了一份新报告，着重强调“E-2020”集团中疟疾消除国家的成就与经验。虽然COVID-19大流行带来了挑战，但许多国家仍完成了2020年零本土疟疾病例报告，且其他国家在实现零疟疾的目标上也取得了令人瞩目的进展。

此外，在面对抗疟疾药物耐药性和COVID-19的双重威胁下，湄公河流域国家仍在实现2030年消除疟疾的共同目标上取得了重大进展，在该流域的6个国家中，报告的疟疾病例数在2000年至2020年之间下降了97％，且疟疾死亡人数减少了99％以上。

在中国，疟疾曾是最严重的公共卫生问题之一，但从2000年开始实施综合性疟疾控制和消除战略后，国内的疟疾疾病负担大幅下降，疫区范围缩小。目前中国已成功实现零疟疾目标，并正在接受世界卫生组织的零疟疾认证评估。
