弟兄姊妹们主内平安，今天继续来和大家一起学习英文圣经金句。

今天我们分享的经文来自新约马可福音8章34－37节（MARK 8:34-37）
If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it . What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
若有人要跟从我，就当舍己，背起他的十字架来跟从我。因为，凡要救自己的生命（注：“生命”或作“灵魂”。下同）的，必丧掉生命；凡为我和福音丧掉生命的，必救了生命。人就是赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换生命呢？

我们先来熟悉一下这段经文。
If anyonewould come after me，he must deny himself
若有人要跟从我，就当舍己

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
人就是赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？

好，下面我们一起来看一下这段经文里的语法。   
If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it . What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
若有人要跟从我，就当舍己，背起他的十字架来跟从我。因为，凡要救自己的生命（注：“生命”或作“灵魂”。下同）的，必丧掉生命；凡为我和福音丧掉生命的，必救了生命。人就是赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？人还能拿什么换生命呢？
1、would， must，can的用法。它们都是情态动词，不能单独做谓语，后面要跟动词原形。在疑问句中，情态动词放在主语之前。
If anyone would come after me 
若有人要跟随我
Would you go with me?
你愿意和我一起去吗？
He must deny himself.
他必须舍己。
Water must be pure if it is to be drunk. 
水如供饮用必须净化。
Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?
人还能拿什么换生命呢？
He can speak English.
他会讲英语。
You can’t sit on the Bible.
你不能坐在《圣经》上。
2、it的用法。这里的it 是代替后面的不定式的，是形式主语，真正的主语是后置的不定式短语。有时候为了强调不定式动作的执行者，常在不定式前加for sb。
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul？
人就是赚得全世界，赔上自己的生命，有什么益处呢？
It’s not easy to finish the work in two days.
两天之内完成这个工作不容易。
It isn’t right for us to stop half way.
 我们半途而废是不对的.
It’s a good idea to think this way. 
这样考虑问题是个好办法。
It requires efforts to master a foreign language.
 掌握一门外语需要种种努力。
How long does it take to get there?
  到那里需要多少时间?
How much does it cost to send the package? 
寄这包裹花了多少钱?
In fact, it’s a hard job for the police to keep order in an important football match.
事实上，在重要的足球比赛时，警察维持秩序很困难。
It is better to build houses on rock than on sand.
把房屋建在岩石上比建在沙地上要好。
3、whoever的用法。whoever在这段话中引导的是主语从句（即在复合句中充当主语成分的句子），只能置于句首，不能用形式主语it 代替。
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it；
因为，凡要救自己的生命的，必丧掉生命；
But whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.
 凡为我和福音丧掉生命的，必救了生命。
Whoever comes will be welcomed. 
无论谁来都会受到欢迎。
Whoever breaks the law should be punished.
不管谁违法都应该受到惩罚。
Whoever loves his brother lives in the light.
爱弟兄的，就是住在光明中。
And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
有人强逼你走一里路，你就同他走二里。
Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has can not be my disciple.
你们无论什么人，若不撇下一切所有的，就不能作我的门徒。
Whoever saves a life,saves the world entire.
当你挽救了一条生命，就等于挽救了全世界。
最后让我们来一起回顾一下这段经文：

在马太福音22章37－39节，耶稣告诉我们两条诫命：爱神和爱人如己。我们受造的目的就是在爱中发挥功能。只有行走在神的话语中，服事神，服事人，才能把神创造我们的原意发挥好。满足的秘决不是钱财、能力、才华，尊荣，而是把焦点从自己身上拿开，放下自己的意愿（舍己），凡事（思想、言语、行为）顺服神，效法耶稣，尊重、接纳、关心…他人，每天向自己死，才能经历完全的满足和喜乐。
