Overview:
Don Davies is the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Kingsway.  He was first elected in 2008, and was re-elected in 2011 and 2015.  He serves as the NDP Critic for Health.
Prior to his current post, Don served as Official Opposition Critic for International Trade and Deputy Critic for Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism, Official Opposition Critic for Citizenship and Immigration, and NDP Critic for Public Safety and National Security.

Position Title: Volunteer Office Assistant (Vancouver)
Position Description: 
We are looking for a few volunteers to help us at the community office of Don Davies, MP.  Our community office handles a range of issues and responsibilities pertaining to the MP's work here in the riding and in his capacity as NDP Health Critic.
Responsibilities:
The office assistant role is responsible for assisting with a number of tasks, including:
  • Front line services - answering phone calls and welcoming constituents to the office, providing refreshments for people waiting to speak with Don or the staff.
  • Data management - assisting in keeping our database up to date, filing casework, outreach and communication files.
  • Demographic research - assisting Don and the staff to keep knowledge of Vancouver Kingsway up to date including new buildings, businesses etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned
Skills:
  • Successful volunteer candidates will have a friendly, professional and mature demeanour;
  • Fluent in English, oral and written;
  • Excellent customer service, inter-personal and communication skills;
  • Accountable and a teamplayer;
  • Punctual, positive, and ability to follow instructions;
  • Interests in politics or a long term goal in policy, government, social studies, or law considered an asset;
  • Graphic design skills considered an asset

  • Volunteers will gain knowledge of the current federal political scene as well as how it translates locally.
