布朗诉教育委员会案是1954年提交给最高法院的一个具有里程碑意义的案件，起因是堪萨斯州的非裔美国学生琳达·布朗被拒绝进入她家附近白人学校就读。1955年，最高法院一致裁定公立学校应实现种族融合，推翻了几十年前在普莱西诉弗格森案中确立的“隔离但平等”原则。欢迎大家和我们一起讨论这个案件的法律斗争、美国有色人种协会在本案中发挥的作用，以及勇敢挑战公立学校种族隔离的家庭的故事。我们还将分析60年后该裁决对教育体系的影响。

Brown v. Board of Education was a landmark case brought before the Supreme Court in 1954.  It originated when Linda Brown, an African American student in Kansas, was denied access to the white-only schools near her home.  In 1955, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that public schools should be racially integrated, overturning the separate but equal doctrine established in Plessy v. Ferguson decades earlier.  Join us to discuss the legal battles, the role of the NAACP, and the stories of the families who courageously challenged segregation in public schools.  We will also analyze how the influences of the ruling on the education system, 60 years later.

All attendees, regardless of age, must bring their government-issued, physical ID with name, photo, and ID number for entry to the Consulate.  We do not provide safekeeping services for cameras and laptops, please do not bring them with you.  Other belongings will be temporarily stored at the gate, including small bags.  Your personal cell phone will be permitted.
