Come hang loose with us on the evening of May 9 as we gather together to sing songs from the diverse and influential repertoire of Asian American and Pacific Islander music.  We'll explore the story of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage by singing songs from Yellow Pearl, IZ, Jocelyn Enriquez, and more.  Bring your instruments too because we'll be jamming whenever we're not singing!

What can you expect from the event?

You will participate in a guided, authentic, interactive "jam session.”  Our hosts, Kirk and Jerry from the local bluegrass band Nomads, will lead easy-to-learn, traditional American and Chinese songs while giving you the tools to feel comfortable singing and playing music with new friends.  During the jam session we will sit in a circle.  It’s all about coming together to celebrate the act of growing together, mistakes and all.  Put simply, it's "connection through music."

Nomads is a Shanghai-based band of friends from America and China who weave together both countries' folk music and help people have fun.  Teachers, athletes, doctors, musicians - if you love music and would like a chance to try something new, join the circle!
