In honor of Women’s History Month, the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai, in partnership with other foreign consulates in Shanghai, cordially invites you to join us from March to early May for the 2024 Shanghai International Women’s Film Festival, as we pay tribute to the indomitable spirit and remarkable achievements of women worldwide. This festival is dedicated to promoting women's equality and empowerment through thought-provoking dramas and inspiring documentaries.

On April 18 (Thursday) at 6pm, New Zealand Consulate General Shanghai will present the film "Jane Campion, the Cinema Woman."
作为电影人之中的先锋人物，简·坎皮恩是第一位在戛纳电影节上获得金棕榈奖的女性导演。在40年的电影生涯中，她在非常男性化的电影殿堂中开拓出自己独特的一席之地。简·坎皮恩是一位具有叛逆性的导演，一位对人类灵魂和女性的细腻刻画者，也是一位睿智的电影制作人，既朴实无华又异想天开，既温文尔雅又离经叛道，有时甚至会被误解。这是第一次，电影导演朱莉·波图赛用镜头描绘出真实的她，再现了简在电影事业和生活中先锋性的旅程。欢迎前来欣赏这部入选2022“戛纳经典” 的充满活力、细腻、智慧和幽默的纪录片。

A pioneer among filmmakers, Jane Campion was the first woman to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes, for "The Piano," and in 2022 she won Best Director at the Academy Awards for "The Power of the Dog." In 40 years of work, she has carved out a unique place for herself in the traditionally masculine pantheon of cinema.  A visual and iconoclastic director, a subtle portraitist of the human soul and women, Jane Campion is also a furtive filmmaker, at once discreet and whimsical, gentle and impertinent, and at times misunderstood. For the first time, filmmaker Julie Bertuccelli draws the portrait she deserves, in a film that is unapologetically subjective and offbeat, very much mirroring Jane’s own trailblazing journey in cinema and life.

报名须知 
我们至少会在活动开始前15分钟启动安检流程以及入场。请您携带有效并带有照片的身份证件原件进入上海美国中心，证件复印件或照片将不被接受。 

Doors will open and security screening will commence 15 minutes before the program starts. You must bring a valid physical photo ID to enter the Shanghai American Center. Copies or pictures of IDs will not be accepted.  
参加活动请提前报名。活动会准时开始，是否有余位视现场观众到场情况而定。为了确保所有观众的舒适和安全，并遵守防火规范，我们只能让前80位到场并成功报名参加活动的观众入场。 

Please RSVP if you intend to come.  Programs begin on time and seats are subject to space availability. To ensure the comfort and safety of all participants and adhere to fire codes, we can only accommodate the first 80 guests who arrive having RSVP’d.

Although masks are not currently required to attend Shanghai American Center events, audience members are free to wear them if they wish.

All personal belongings brought into the American Center will be scanned during security screening. Guests may not bring laptop computers to Shanghai American Center programs. Please note there is no place to store luggage or laptops outside the Center. Portable electronic devices, such as mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, and smartwatches are permitted.  No audio or video recording of the program will be permitted.

Shanghai American Center staff may capture photos or video during the event for future promotion of American Center events.  Staff will make efforts during the event to gain verbal permission from individuals whose likeness is captured in footage to be used publicly.  Granting permission allows the Shanghai American Center and the U.S. Department of State permission to publish photographs or video in which participants may appear for any lawful purpose, without payment, further approval, or any other consideration in perpetuity.

Staff of the ShAC reserve all rights to refuse entry.
