意思就完全不对了，

01.clean the desk什么意思？

clean the desk可不是清理桌子的意思，

而是加班的意思。

不过我们最常用的加班是：work overtime

如果同事对你说clean the desk，

可千万不要误以为他在提醒你整理桌面。

他是告诉你需要加班了。

02.clear your desk什么意思？

意思是：收拾东西走人；你被开除了

作动词时，clear有清除和搬走的意思，

但是clear your desk的意思并不是清理你的桌子或者搬走你的桌子。

我们都知道，

被开除的人走之前总是要收拾一下桌面的东西，

所以clear your desk就是你被开除了的意思。

desk是课桌的意思，

虽然at desk和at the desk只有一个定冠词the的区别，

但是意思却完全不一样，

at desk表示的是学习的状态。

at the desk可以理解为在这张桌子旁边。

英语中类似的表达还有，at table和at the table，

at table的意思是在吃饭，

at the table指的是在桌子旁边。

We find Jim working at desk all morning.

我们发现吉姆整个上午都在伏案工作。

He was waiting for me at the desk.

他刚才在桌旁等我。

04.hot desk
hot desk [ˈhɑːt desk]

公用办公桌

hot是热的，desk是桌子，

但hot desk并不是热的桌子，

而是公用的办公桌。

这是一种新型的办公模式，

不同的办公人员在不同的时间，

用同一张桌子办公，

能帮助企业降低成本。

公用办公桌上一直都有人，

我们可以理解成一张很热门的桌子，

正好就是hot desk。
