February
02
因为今夜我将身处满天星辰之中
所以请看着我点燃火光
点亮天空
伴着放克灵魂乐
随光照耀整座城市
所以我将如同炸药一般点燃
绽放光彩
'Cause I'm in the stars tonight
so watch me bring the fire and set the night alight
Shining through the city with a little funk and soul
So I'mma light it up like dynamite

Kamikaze, Sacrifice, Survival, and Memories
Kamikaze, Sacrifice, Survival, and Memories: The USS Bunker Hill, Okinawa, May, 1945
Hybrid Event
Date: Mon, Feb 12th, 1:15 pm
Location: Large Meeting RoomCary Memorial Library1874 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA,02420

Presented by Bob Begin, US Army Veteran and Naval Historian  By May of 1945, American forces were fighting on Okinawa, the last stop on the long road before the Japanese Homeland.  With the Japanese unleashing Kamikaze pilots, the ferocity of the resistance was unprecedented. On the morning of May 11, 1945, the Bunker Hill would be hit by 2 Kamikazes within seconds. Massive  fires, explosions, and chaos raged throughout the ship. Despite huge loss of life, the ship would survive but never return to combat. This is a tale of courage, sacrifice and memories that were never forgotten. It will focus on the mindset of a Kamikaze, interviews with an American pilot who survived that day, and details of the battle.
Registration is only required to watch via Zoom. In person attendance is on a first come basis.
