The 16-year-old Chinese star edged teammate Chen Yuxi, totaling 436.25 points over five dives. Chen, the two-time reigning world champion, settled for a silver this time with 427.80.

They concluded with a remarkable score of 362.22 points, earning numerous perfect 10s throughout their performance. Their score placed them well ahead of the silver medalists, Jo Jin-mi and Kim Mi-rae of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, who scored 320.70 points, while Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson of Britain took home the bronze with a score of 299.34 points.
