Xiamen Port earns Asia-Pacific Green Port title
厦门港跻身“亚太绿色港口”
Representatives of the APEC Port Services Network announced last week that the Xiamen Container Terminal Group earned designation as an Asia-Pacific Green Port this year. The network ranked Xiamen Port among the top green ports in Asia. The Xiamen Container Terminal Group is the first in China to earn a green award for multiple container terminals.
XMU researchers announce market approval for its hepatitis E urine test kit

A urine test kit for the hepatitis E virus antigen recently received approval for its commercial use. A team of researchers from Xiamen University developed the kit's underlying technology. The test kit included the first global diagnostic reagent for hepatitis E. 
XM firms and projects spotlighted in list of national cultural exports

The Ministry of Commerce last week released its updated list of key enterprises and projects for national cultural exports. Xiamen-based entities figured prominently on the list, with 14 enterprises and five projects making the list. Xiamen ranked first among sub-provincial cities in terms of listed projects and second for included enterprises.
Xiamen's cultural imports and exports in the first eight months of the year topped 9.4 billion yuan, up 35 percent year-on-year. Cultural service imports and exports jumped to 4.2 billion yuan, a three-and-a-half-fold increase over the previous year.
Representatives from the city's Commerce bureau emphasized its commitment to helping enterprises expand international and to fostering internationally competitive cultural enterprises.
XM hosts electric power supply industry conference

Xiamen recently hosted an electric power supply industry conference that focused on green and low-carbon energy delivery. Organizers described the biennial conference as a major Asia-Pacific event that sets the stage for discussions on global energy and electricity development trends. 
The conference included a promotional event entitled Stride Forward with Xiamen Towards a City of Innovation for the New Energy Industry. The event included signing ceremonies for 18 new energy projects with a combined investment of 22.8 billion yuan. The annual throughput in Xiamen's new energy related industry exceeded 100 billion yuan last year. 
Xiamen Summit of Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum wraps up

The annual Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum - Xiamen Summit wrapped up earlier this month. The two-day event included a series of forums devoted to topics such as supply chain development and the health industry. The event included hundreds of entrepreneurs and scholars. Attendees discussed topics such as economic trends and corporate development pathways. 
Daycare services approved for XM public kindergartens
厦门明确：有条件幼儿园可办托班
A trio of municipal departments announced recently that qualified public kindergartens are permitted to offer daycare for children between the ages of two and three. 
In order to qualify, each classroom must be staffed by two teachers and an assistant, with no more than 20 students per room. City officials noted that fees for public kindergarten daycare programs are lower than the fees of early education institutions and private kindergartens.
XM's garbage sorting program ranked first in China for 21 quarters

National Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development officials announced earlier this year that Xiamen ranked first in its quarterly assessment of domestic waste sorting in major cities. Xiamen has topped the ministry’s garbage sorting rankings  for 21 consecutive quarters. 
Imported exhibits begin to arrive for XM Int'l Art Expo
艺术厦门国际博览会首批进境展品顺利通关
Representatives of the upcoming Xiamen International Art Expo announced that the first batch of artworks for the event arrived at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport last month. The delivery included six oil paintings from Hong Kong.
To expedite arriving artwork, local Customs officials have assisted enterprises with paperwork such as pre-arrival declarations and letters of guarantee.
Tunneling work completing for new route between XM and ZZ

Regional transit authorities last week announced the completion of tunneling for the Damoshan Tunnels project that will run between the Xiamen-Zhangzhou border and the Fengshan section of National Highway 324.
The project is slated for completion by the end of 2025. The two-kilometer section of the project in Haicang includes both tunnels and bridges. The new thoroughfare will facilitate access to such places as the Haicang Tianzhu Mountain Area.
World's largest container ship debuts at Xiamen Port
世界最大量级集装箱船“地中海·中国”处女航到访厦门港
The MSC China, one of the world’s largest container ships, last month made its debut at Xiamen Port. Owned by the Mediterranean Shipping Company, the 200,000-ton vessel was developed and manufactured in China. The vessel is slated to ply the Silk Road Shipping route.
Silk Road Shipping is a comprehensive international logistics service platform dedicated to marine shipping between countries associated with the Belt and Road Initiative. Scheduled ports of call for the MSC China include Tanjung Pelepas Port in Malaysia, Colombo Port in Sri Lanka, Felixstowe Port in the U.K., Bremerhaven in Germany and Rotterdam Port in the Netherlands.
Work continues on expansion of the Xiamen International Expo Center
厦门国际博览中心首个全馆展会下月亮相
Local authorities announced last week that the second phase of the Exhibition Center Section of the Xiamen International Expo Center successfully passed a joint acceptance inspection last month. The inspection included the center’s 11 exhibition halls, entrance halls, central corridor and basement. The 300,000-square-meter will soon begin operations.
First announced in 2021, the first phase of the Xiamen International Expo Center debuted this August. Seven exhibition halls and a pair of hotels for the second phase are complete.
Shuxiang Ludao Reading Campaign Month kicks off
书香鹭岛活动月启动
The Xiamen Wuyi Cultural Square will host an opening ceremony recently for this year’s Shuxiang Ludao Reading Campaign Month. The Xiamen Municipal Reading Awareness Organizing Committee is hosting the event, which will include 26 local member units. 
The monthlong reading campaign will include the Ludao Book Fair, which will feature 20 publishers and more than 80,000 books.
