你听说了吗？“麻瓜”也可以申请魔法硕士了？

英国一所大学官宣，将开设“魔法与神秘学”课程……不少网友激动表示：想申请！
综合BBC、《卫报》等英媒报道，英国埃克塞特大学（The University of Exeter）日前表示，将于2024年开始授予“魔法与神秘学（Magic and Occult Science）”硕士学位，这也是英国首个魔法和神秘学硕士学位。课程将探索世界各地的巫术和魔法的历史，以及对社会和科学的影响。
The University of Exeter is seeking to harness growing interest in the subjects with a course that will explore the history and impact of witchcraft and magic around the world on society and science.

值得一提的是，埃克塞特大学是《哈利·波特》作者J·K罗琳的母校。罗琳本科曾在这里学习法语和古典文学，并于1987年毕业。
据报道，“魔法与神秘学”硕士学位将于2024年9月开始授课，从历史、文学、哲学、考古学、社会学、心理学、戏剧和宗教等方面展示魔法在西方和东方的作用。
The multidisciplinary degree, which starts in September 2024, will draw on history, literature, philosophy, archaeology, sociology, psychology, drama and religion to show the role of magic on the west and the east.
埃克塞特大学表示，这是英国同类研究生课程中唯一一个将魔法史研究与如此广泛的其他学科相结合的课程。
The university said it was one of the only postgraduate courses of its kind in the UK to combine the study of the history of magic with such a wide range of other subjects.

在该大学看来，魔法和神秘学一直是西方文化的重要组成。负责这门课程的艾米莉·塞洛夫教授表示，课程将让人重新审视所谓“西方是理性主义和科学之地，而世界其他地方则是魔法和迷信之地”的假设，包括它如何支撑西方文化，以及它与自然世界的关系如何为气候变化带来新的视角。


Prof Emily Selove, course leader, said the MA in magic and occult science would reexamine "the assumption that the west is the place of rationalism and science, while the rest of the world is a place of magic and superstition", including how it underpins western culture, and how its relationship with the natural world can bring new perspectives to climate breakdown.
她表示，学术界如今“越来越多地认识到”，中世纪和早期现代历史、文学、宗教以及科学史和哲学史中涉及魔法或神秘学科的文本“被学术界系统地忽视了”。


She said there was a "growing acknowledgment" in academia that texts dealing with magic or occult subjects have been “systematically neglected by scholarship” in medieval and early modern history, literature, and religion, as well as the history of science and philosophy.

塞洛夫教授介绍，自从学校公布开设这门课程以来，学生对它很感兴趣，学校已经收到了100多份咨询。


Selove said there had been a lot of interest in the course since its launch, with the university receiving more than 100 inquiries.
学生们可以选择学习西方文学和艺术中的龙、亚瑟王的传说、古文字学、伊斯兰思想、考古学理论和实践、中世纪女性形象、中世纪和近代早期欧洲书籍、近代早期欧洲的性别、社会和文化等课程。


Students will have the option to take modules on dragons in western literature and art, the legend of King Arthur, palaeography, Islamic thought, archaeological theory and practice, the depiction of women in the middle ages, the book in medieval and early modern Europe, gender, society and culture in early modern Europe.
该大学表示，读完这项硕士学位后，学生将来可以在教学、咨询、指导、遗产和博物馆工作、图书馆、旅游、艺术组织或出版行业就业。


The university said the course could prepare students for careers in teaching, counselling, mentoring, heritage and museum work, work in libraries, tourism, arts organisations or the publishing industry, among other areas of work.
