截止到今天，Kellogg和Yale的R1申请都已经结束了。
和其他学校不同的是，这两所学校在提交完以后都需要在规定时间内完成Video Essay，今天我们就对如何做好video essay给大家一些建议。
Kellogg
申请人需要在96小时内完成Video essay，由3个小题组成，每题20秒钟准备时间和1分钟回答时间。
比如，Kellogg曾经的题目有：
Video essay 1: Please introduce yourself to the admissions committee.

– Consider this your opportunity to share what you would want your future Kellogg classmates and our admissions committee to know about you. What makes you, you?


Video essay 2: What path are you interested in pursuing, how will you get there, and why is this program right for you?

– This is an intentionally broad question so you can answer honestly and meaningfully. We want to know why you’re pursuing an MBA and why you’re choosing a particular Kellogg Full-Time Program


Video essay 3: This question will be based on a challenge you've faced and what you've learned from it.
（2020年题目）2020 has been a year of seismic disruption—fighting the global COVID-19 pandemic, tragic deaths that have brought systemic racism and social justice issues to the forefront of long overdue conversations, and economic and political divides that are growing deeper and deeper. How has this unprecedented year challenged you and how have you faced that challenge?
对于Video Essay，Kellogg也给予了申请人一些指导和建议。关键就是“Be yourself. Remember, we’re trying to get to know YOU.”学校强调这个session没有对错之分，更多是为了提供一个机会让学校更好地了解申请人。

Yale
Yale同样也需要完成一个video essay，和Kellogg一样，学校也同样清掉video essay不是面试：The video questions are not a substitute for the interview. Instead, they provide a unique way for us to assess your communication and English language skills, and enable us to create a more dynamic, multi-dimensional portrait of your candidacy.
学校的tips也写地非常直接到位，最后一句也让人会心一笑。
Here are a few tips on the video exercise. First, know you’re going to be great! Our aim to set you up for success. After receiving each question, you’ll have 20-30 seconds to gather your thoughts and 60-90 seconds, depending on the question, for your response. Familiarize yourself with the 60-90 second time frame in which to deliver your response. You don’t want to feel rushed, and you don’t want to run out of time getting to the heart of your answer. Finally, be sure you have a good internet connection and a quiet, private space. You’d be surprised how many ‘bloopers’ we see in the video questions due to an unexpected colleague, partner, or pet joining your session!
根据去年Yale申请人的反馈：
Yale的第一、第二题比较标准，围绕why MBA、why now、你和团队曾经遇到的挑战等等。
第三题每个人都不一样，会问到一些和商业和社会现象有关的问题，比如说全球环境问题、电子书、互联网等话题。
准备建议
我们在这里建议三点：
1.训练自己的即时反应能力，练习短时间里说清楚观点
2. Be yourself。不要过于在意问题回答对错与否，更重要的是在表达出你的观点和想法。
3. 多和小伙伴组团进行练习，这样的效率更高，也更能够互相启发，找到更好的切入点。
最后，还有一些过来人的经验分享给大家：
一定提前测试好硬件、网速、浏览器、camera、microphone！
我昨晚一直在整这些，希望大家提前测试好！
我想先给大家建议如何拍得美：
不要用自然光，可以晚上在家里，在笔记本电脑后面左右两个灯，家里再开一展小灯，这个灯光集中打到脸上，这样脸比较小
建议可以化一下妆，眼线眉毛可以化浓一点，镜头比较吃妆，口红用淡色的，比较端庄
选饱和度比较低的衣服，浅粉色，天蓝色，这样上镜头比较好看
关于Video Essay的建议：
网络一定要好，一开始用的VPN比较慢，直接用家里的网反而会快一点，不过有人和我是相反的。
Practice的部分会比较卡，等的时间会比较长，不用担心。但是实际录的时候，系统非常流畅，不用等很久。一般Set up的时候看到上传和下载都是绿色的，那实战的话就没什么问题。
