纽约州宣布春节为公立学校法定假日
霍楚表示，将农历新年指定为公立学校的法定假日，是“认同纽约州的美国亚裔社群和丰富的族裔多样性迈出的重要一步”。纽约州州长认为，“这不仅仅是放假一天，更为青少年了解并庆祝本族裔或其他族裔的文化传统提供了机会。”
据此前报道，2014年12月，时任纽约州州长安德鲁·科莫签署法案，同意在纽约州亚裔人口密集的学校设立春节为法定学校假日。2015年6月，时任纽约市长白思豪宣布，纽约市公立学校将从2016年开始春节放假一天。
