The B.A.A. advances its mission and vision in a variety of ways, such as organizing mass-participatory running events like the Boston Marathon, creating or supporting community fitness events, and sponsoring a running club that serves the greater Boston area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Human Resources (HR) Manager plays a key role in the successful management, advancement and administration of HR-related programs and people operations at the B.A.A. In this role, you will help facilitate cross-functional initiatives that impact the overall success of the organization, and the development of its people and outcomes. The HR Manager will report to the Head of Human Resources and support the design and standardization of people processes at the B.A.A., applying a lens of equity and inclusion to all aspects of the work.  
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Manage and support the effective administration of Human Resources through all points of the employee life cycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding/offboarding, I-9 verifications, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations support, organizational development, and workforce (professional) development. Codify and update processes regularly, evaluating for effectiveness and opportunities to improve. Lead improvements with input from stakeholders. 
  • Ensure compliant documentation practices, leveraging technology to simplify personnel files, adhering to documentation requirements, etc. 
  • Support the annual compensation and evaluation processes in coordination with senior leadership, the Head of Human Resources, and the Compensation Committee. Support compensation-related reviews, projects, and activities, as needed (e.g., benchmarking). 
  • Manage the annual benefits renewal process and implementation, from planning to Open Enrollment. Manage related stakeholders effectively, from brokers to vendors to participants. Ensure Finance receives benefits projections in a timely manner. 
  • Manage timely, compliant payroll activities and administration for the organization. Administer employee events and changes in the HRIS (ADP). Administer payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Work with internal stakeholders to create and uphold successful payroll processes. Resolve payroll issues, as needed. 
  • Seek out industry-leading best practices and strategies to maximize our HRIS, the user experience, as well as efficiency for practitioners. 
  • Review/update job descriptions annually and support the existence of a current, accurate job catalog at the B.A.A. 
  • Support the organization’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategy and programming, in partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Assist functional teams and all team members in leveraging a DEIB lens in all that they do.  
  • Management of student internship program activities. 
  • Help drive and maintain a strong Human Resource team and service delivery in partnership with the Head of Human Resources. Help develop and maintain an HR scorecard or metrics of success. 
  • Support a strong, inclusive culture across the organization, and a positive, productive employee experience. Facilitate discussions, bridge communications, and coach staff members as needed to aid in collaboration and work group success. Help evaluate employee engagement and experience metrics. 
  • Support the Head of Human Resources with the organizational policy strategy, development, and management. Ensure company policies are updated annually. 
  • Manage and support ad hoc HR and administrative projects, as needed.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources required; HR certification preferred. 
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to manage payroll administration effectively. 
  • Proven skills in problem identification and resolution, as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex setting required. 
  • Must possess excellent communications skills, and attention to detail. 
  • Results-focused individual with the persistence and patience necessary to prioritize effectively and ensure positive outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with teams and people at all levels of an organization. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging topics, opportunities and best practices in the workplace. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information and documentation appropriately and with discretion. 
  • Strong technology, communications and administrative skills required; MS Office and experience with common HRIS and/or payroll systems required. 
WORK EXPECTATIONS AT THE B.A.A.
We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The HR Manager role is a 40 hours/week, exempt position and may be based out of our Boston or Hopkinton office, with virtual/remote work flexibility in alignment with our hybrid work framework. 
The role will require working some weekends and nights for B.A.A. events, including, but not limited to, the Half Marathon, Boston Marathon, 10K and 5K.

The salary range is competitive and commensurate with lived and professional experience. The B.A.A. will promote your professional growth and development by providing access to:
