About The Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement
The Boston Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) was created in 1998 as the Mayor’s Office of New Bostonians. Our mission is to strengthen the ability of immigrants and Boston’s diverse cultural and linguistic communities to fully participate in the economic, civic, social, and cultural life of our great City. MOIA also works to promote the recognition and public understanding of immigrant contributions to Boston.
Position

Rapid Response Community Liaison
We are seeking two passionate individuals who want to make a positive impact on Boston’s diverse immigrant community and support new migrant arrivals’. Two (2) Rapid Response Community Liaisons will provide on-call immediate response support, including after-hours, for migrant families and individuals seeking emergency housing and shelter in the City of Boston.
They will serve as the main point of contact for families throughout the duration of their time receiving interim assistance through the City prior to transferring to the state-run family shelter system. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • transporting families to interim shelter locations,
  • providing other core support such as delivery of food,clothes, formula, diapers, and other basic necessities, and
  • connecting families to additional resources across community-based organizations offering support to new arrivals.
Minimum Requirements
  • Applicants must have at least one to two (1-2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in case management, emergency response efforts, and/or community organizing. Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  • Written and oral fluency in English and Haitian Creole and/or Spanish required.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle required, in addition to a valid MA driver’s license and auto insurance.
Positions Available - 2
Rate - $38.85 per hour at 35 hours per week
