Cary Hall
1605 Mass Ave, Lexington

Highlight of the Month
Interconnect
Celebrating Chinese Americans and the 40th anniversary of CAAL
Date: Sat, 4/8 7:00 PM
Location: Cary Hall
1605 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington
Interconnect, a play by Nick Ning (with English subtitles), tells the story of a Chinese student at MIT and a Chinese-American family in Lexington coming together to grapple with the turmoil of the COVID pandemic. Though they face the same global and local events together, Qiang and the Ding family have very different experiences – and yet some remain similar in surprising ways. All of them wonder about the way forward. How do we build bridges instead of walls between people in times of crisis?
As tensions between the US and China escalate ever higher, this play is a relevant look at the people caught in the middle. Where are Chinese-Americans supposed to fall? What does it even mean to be American, or Chinese?
In general, how is identity formed – is it chosen, earned, or destined?
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Chinese American Association of Lexington. Let this play also be the “first shot” to kick off the celebration of Patriot’s Day, and the May AAPI Heritage Month!

755 Mass Avenue, Lexington
Charlie Nardozzi is a nationally recognized garden writer, speaker, radio, and television personality and is the former host of PBS’s Garden Smart. He was the senior horticulturist and spokesperson for the National Gardening Association.

Many gardeners want to grow their own vegetables, herbs, and fruits in their yard but don’t want to sacrifice the beauty of their landscape. Foodscaping allows you to do both. By selecting attractive varieties of vegetables, herbs, and fruits, you can mix and match edible plants with ornamental ones. In this talk, he will cover some design tips for organizing your yard, how to plant in succession, and interplant to keep a garden looking great even as you harvest. He will also share his gallery of favorite foodscape plants.
