李易峰嫖娼被捕，又一明星“塌房”了，今天我们来梳理一下外刊中是怎么表达“塌房”的：

“直译+注释”法
Sixth Tone 中有篇关于虚拟明星的报道，里面讲到了企业开始热衷于用虚拟明星代言产品：
先直译：collapsed，然后解释：scandals or negative press that shatter the shrine of adoration that fans build around their chosen idols.
negative press 指“负面报道”，press 在这里是“媒体报道、媒体评论”的意思，比如某人或某公司遭到了媒体的负面报道，就可以说：XX had a negative/bad press.（注意要加冠词 a/an）
shatter 表示 to destroy sth completely，后面可以加 feeling, belief, hope 等词，比如：
She had been cheated on by her boyfriend, which shattered her illusions about love. 
她遭到了男朋友的背叛，这使她对爱情的幻想破灭了。 
shrine 指“圣地、圣祠、神庙”，这里比喻偶像的光环、完美形象。
在写作中，我们就可以这么表示“塌房”：a "collapsed house", which refers to scandals or negative press that shatter the shrine of adoration that fans build around their chosen idols.
当然也可以简单一点，直接说：the shrine of adoration was shattered.
其实很多具有中文特色的词语，都可以采取“直译+注释”的方法，比如《经济学人》是这么介绍“佛系青年”的：
They refer to “Buddhist youth” , meaning those who are never disappointed since they want nothing.
他们指的是“佛系青年”，意思是那些从不失望，因为他们什么都不想要的人。
Buddhist youth 是对中文词汇“佛系青年”的直译，后面进一步解释该词汇的真正含义：meaning those who are never disappointed since they want nothing.

意译法
“塌房”是指爱豆在粉丝们心目中形象的坍塌。爱豆在粉丝们心目中就是一座神圣而美丽的房子，如果爱豆出现一些负面新闻（或是爱豆曝出恋爱的消息），那么意味着爱豆这所“房子”倒塌了。所以我们可以直接用 be caught (up) in scandals、get into trouble 来表达“塌房”的意思。
《经济学人》在一篇关于“虚拟偶像”的报道中解释了企业热衷于虚拟偶像的原因——真人明星不靠谱，里面就用到了这两个表达：
划红线的部分讲到了真实明星存在的一些问题，一是 be caught up in scandals 容易卷入绯闻，二是 get into trouble for being out of step with the Communist Party 容易因违反党的方针政策而陷入麻烦。
其中 be caught (up) in scandals 和 get into trouble for...就可以用来表示“塌房”，我们造个句子：
Kris Wu was caught up in scandals and got arrested on suspicion of rape.
吴亦凡塌房了，因涉嫌强奸被捕。
be caught (up) in 和 get into trouble for 也可以用 be mired in 替换，mire 本是名词“沼泽”的意思，be mired in 则表示“陷入泥潭、陷入困境”，是不是很形象？
《经济学人》有篇文章谈到了中国国足的问题，里面就用到了 be mired in 这个表达：
The national team is ranked 77th in the world, behind tiny Curaçao. And domestic leagues, a crucial building block, are mired in mediocrity.
中国国家队的世界排名是第77位，排在小国Curaçao之后。而作为重要组成部分的国内联赛则陷入平庸。
KrAsia 在报道“虚拟偶像”时也用到了 be mired in，一起来看一下：
除了 be mired in scandals，be caught in bad publicity 也可以表示“塌房”，publicity 这里指媒体的“宣传、报道”，bad publicity 就是“负面报道”的意思，和前面 negative press 是同义替换，但要注意，publicity 是不可数名词。
我们还可以用 ruin one's reputation 表示“塌房”的意思，造个句子：
Yifeng Li ruined his reputation for soliciting prostitutes.
李易峰因嫖娼而塌房。
solicit 意思是 to offer to have sex with people in return for money “招徕(嫖客)、拉(客)”，prostitute 指“卖淫者”，solicit prostitutes 则表示“嫖娼”，也可以用 hire sex workers 替换。

俚语
英文中有个俚语 blot your copybook 也可以表示“塌房”的含义。
blot 指“把墨水溅到纸上、弄脏”，copybook 指“练习本、习字帖”，合起来 blot your copybook 字面意思就是“把墨水溅到练习本上”，你想啊，你本来好好写着作业，却把墨水溅到了作业本上，这不就损害在老师心目中的形象了吗？所以这个短语的意思是：to do sth to spoil the opinion that other people have of you 即“做出有损形象的事，玷污名誉”，在饭圈中可以表达“塌房”的含义。
《唐顿庄园》第二季中就出现过这个表达：
我们再看个《经济学人》的例句，2021年经济学人中有篇文章讲到了 阿奇戈斯资本管理公司的风波，文中有这么一句话：
What makes this even more puzzling is that Mr Hwang had already blotted his copybook.
更让人困惑的是，黄此前就已经形象崩塌。
