XM Mid-Autumn Mooncake Game Cultural Festival kicks off

The opening ceremony of 2022 Xiamen Mid-Autumn Mooncake Game Cultural Festival kicked off last Saturday at the Lucky Home World, a local furniture and appliances emporium. Sponsored by Xiamen Daily, the event will last for one month and involve mooncake games at residential communities. An online mooncake game app “厦门日报社读者聚乐部”designed exclusively for Xiamen Daily readers was launched simultaneously.
CIFIT to host 30 investment seminars and matchmakings

The organizing committee of the upcoming 22th CIFIT disclosed last week that they had invited 200 professional organizations to attend more than 30 investment seminars and matchmakings at the fair. Nearly 1,000 projects are also set to host roadshows.
Track-laying completed on China's first sea-crossing high-speed railway

Track-laying work on the country's first sea-crossing high-speed railway was completed last week in East China's Fujian province.
The 277-km railway links Fuzhou with Xiamen. With a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour and eight stations along the route, it is expected to slash the travel time between the two cities to just one hour. The railway construction project is expected to be completed in 2023.
Transit officials stated that the constructors overcame problems including the complicated marine hydrological environment and adopted advanced track-laying facilities to improve the track-laying efficiency. On average, about 6 kilometers of track had been laid per day, according to China Railway Nanchang Group Co., Ltd.
Siming renovates landscaping for 41 area streets

Siming officials last week announced that the district has renovated and upgraded the landscape and greenery for 41 area streets around the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. The upgrades include new plants, soil improvement and enhanced landscaping features.
New XM rail transit regulations to debut next month

The local transportation bureau last week announced updated rail transit policies are set to roll out in October. All local residents over the age of 65 will have free access to the subway system.
Local subway tickets will be valid for three hours from the time when a passenger first enters the rail system. Riders will be required to purchase a second ticket for commutes longer than three hours.
XM offers subsidy program update for newly-employed college grads

Officials from the Xiamen's housing bureau last week provided an update on the city's subsidy program for newly-employed college graduates. Begun in 2021, the program offers up to a fifty percent discount over five years on rent for eligible participants who move to Xiamen for employment and entrepreneurship.
The program has provided rental subsidies of about 110 million yuan overall, averaging almost 30,000 yuan in subsidies per participant. More information for potential subsidy applicants is available via the 厦门市住房保障和房屋管理局 WeChat account or on the i厦门 smartphone app.
China Merchants Viking Cruises sets XM as home port

China Merchants Viking Cruises announced recently a new cruise route that will use Xiamen Port as its home base. The China Merchants Yidun vessel will offer roundtrip cruises to Zhoushan beginning later this month. Local officials described the cruise route, which is the second to use Xiamen as a home port since the initial outbreak of covid-19, as a driver of the recovery of Xiamen's cruise economy.
Xiamen exhibitors at CIFTIS reach a new high

The annual China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) wrapped up in Beijing on Monday. The number of Xiamen exhibitors at CIFTIS reached a new high this year, with eight companies participating in the on-site Xiamen pavilion. More than 30 local firms also participated online. Xiamen exhibitors signed at least five projects worth a collective  $10 million during this year's CIFTIS.
Xiamen's first outdoor smart fitness area debuts in Xiangan

City officials last week announced the opening of a new outdoor fitness area at the Guluo Downstream park in Xiangan. The new park is open free of charge and offers amenities such as fitness paths and dozens of outdoor athletic equipment.
Residents can use the facility's smart equipment to monitor their heart rate and exercise data. An additional 39 indoor and outdoor fitness facilities currently under construction in Xiangan are slated to open by the end of the year.
Jimei x Arles Int'l Photo Season kicks off on November 25

Jimei will host on November 25 the launch of the eighth Jimei x Arles International Photography Season. The season will run through January 3, 2023. This year's activities include 30 exhibitions featuring the works of more than 100 domestic and international artists from countries such as Brazil, France, Thailand and the United States.
XM adds 12 popular science education bases

Local authorities recently announced the addition of 12 Xiamen Science Popularization (Education) Bases, bringing to 80 the city's number of facilities and institutions to earn official designation as a science education base.
The new bases include five education and research organizations: the Jingtan Ocean Science Popularization Base, the Museum of Marine Science and Technology of Xiamen University, the National LED Quality Inspection Center, the Smart-Plus Quality, Popular Science Education Base and the Torch Geek Space of Xiamen University.
Five public venues also joined the program, including the Cheng Shin (Xiamen) International Automobile Culture Center, the Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden, the Xiamen (Jimei) Fujian-Taiwan Research Trip Base, the Xiamen Leigongshan Off-Campus Practice Base and the Xiamen Xinmeiyuan Specialized Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative.
Other new bases include the Tianyuzhou Meteorological Science Park and the Xiamen Eye Center of Xiamen University.
