XM per capita disposable income tops 36K yuan in first half year

City officials announced last week that per capita disposable income for Xiamen residents hit 36,048 yuan in the first half of the year, up 5.4 percent year-on-year. Per capita disposable income for urban residents stood at 36,943 yuan while that of rural residents registered 19,731 yuan.
Xiamen Ice and Snow World to debut next month

The Xiamen Ice and Snow World, part of the Sea World complex under construction in Dongdu, began to produce artificial snow last week for its indoor facility. Covering 16,000 square meters with recreational and skiing sections, the 400-million-yuan project will open to the public on September 30.
XM tops 1.7M tons in daily water consumption

City officials last week announced that Xiamen's daily water consumption hit 1.73 million tons on July 26, exceeding last year's record high. The overall water supply this year is expected to rise three to five percent over last year. Haicang and Xiangan are the fastest growing districts due to an abundance of construction projects.
With persistent high temperatures and sunny weather in the forecast, officials expect water consumption to remain high for an extended period of time. Even so, authorities noted that local water supplies are adequate thanks to abundant rainfall in May and June.
A pair of water projects also began operations earlier this year, including an untreated raw water pipeline transferring water from the west to the east of Xiamen. The pipeline tripled to 370,000 tons the daily supply of untreated water to the Xiangan Water Plant. Work on the Shidou-Lianghua-Tingxi reservoir-connection project wrapped up in June and will supply up to 500,000 tons of water per day.
Subway staff to dispense free tickets for riders in lines

Representatives of the Xiamen Rail Transit Group announced plans for a ticket giveaway to encourage commuters to line up in designated waiting areas. More than 10,000 volunteers have been enlisted to hand out free subway tickets to commuters through September who are waiting in areas demarcated by yellow lines.
Capping completed for Line Six's Neimao station

Workers capped the upcoming Neimao station for the subway system's Line Six last week. Concrete is now fully poured for the final top plate of the upcoming station. All 13 stations of the extension between the Lindai West and Huaqiao stations are now fully capped.
The 18-kilometer extension includes stops at West Dongfu road, South Dongfu road, West Xinglin road, North Xinglin road, Xinglin Bay road and Jimei avenue.
Rail paving is underway for the extension along with supporting civil engineering projects.
Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden set to debut kids' playground
园博苑儿童乐园有望今年9月底完工
Representatives of the Jimei New Town Commanding Office announced recently that the upcoming children's playground in Jimei's Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden is expected to be completed in late September. The playground will include more than two dozen recreation facilities.      
The garden's 34,000-square-meter playground is opposite the Jimei New Town Citizen Square and looks out on the Xinglin Bay Commerce Operation Center. 
Work continues on 11 municipal housing projects

Xiamen's construction bureau last week provided an updated on the status of 11 municipal housing currently under construction. Construction is on track for Tongan's Longqiu apartment complex. The facility will include 2,700 public rental units on a total land area of about 31,000 square meters and a total construction area of 152,000 square meters.
The city of Xiamen has built or expanded for than 40 housing projects since 2017. Roughly 10,000 new housing units are slated to enter the market this year.
Xiamen declared a national demonstrative city for intellectual property rights

The central government recently conferred upon Xiamen official designation as a national demonstration city for intellectual property rights. The pilot demonstration period began in July and runs through June 2025. Xiamen is one of two special economic zones on the list.
Xiamen has issued a series of regulations and development plans regarding intellectual property in recent years. Registered high-value invention patents per 10,000 people in Xiamen reached 16.74 last year, the highest ratio in Fujian. Intellectual property pledge financing registered in Xiamen reached 2.5 billion yuan, also topping all regions in Fujian.
XM's total trade value increased by 6.5% through July

Local Customs officials recently announced that Xiamen's total import and export value reached 524 billion yuan through July, up 6.5 percent year-on-year.
Xiamen's import and export value topped 79.3 billion yuan in the month of July. Exports hit 42.25 billion yuan, up 12.6 percent year-on-year. Exports maintained double-digit growth for three consecutive months.
Private enterprises are the largest foreign trade entities in Xiamen, led by mechanical, electrical and labor-intensive products. Asean countries, the United States and the European Union were Xiamen's top three trading partners of Xiamen.
65 XM-based firms earn designation as national-level enterprises

The national official last month issued China's fourth list of companies to receive official designation as a national-level enterprise.
The overview included 65 enterprises in Xiamen, ranking first in Fujian. Xiamen is currently home to 31 national specialized, refined, characteristic and novel enterprises, accounting for 47 of Fujian's total.
Xiamen is home to 144 firms to earn the same designation on the provincial level. An additional 1,027 local companies earned the same designation on the municipal level.
Xiamen-based firms to make the lists tend to be centered in fields such as spare parts and components, software, materials, processes and fundamental industrial technology.
