►含义:
Make a bad start at something, especially a task or relationship.
某件事或某种关系,在一开始的时候就非常糟糕。
►例句:
I might have started off on the wrong foot when I was late the first day of work, but over time, I've made it up by working extremely hard.
我一开始做这个工作时,确实不顺,第一天上班就迟到了,但是后来的日子里,我通过极大的努力弥补了过来。
►对话:
A:I broke up with my girlfriend today. Actually we started off on the wrong foot, because I knew all along that she'd wanted to marry a rich man.
