XM set to launch program to bill patients post-treatment

City officials announced recently that a credit program for medical treatments will debut in September. The program will allow patients to receive treatment before making payments if they participate in Xiamen's egret credit points system. The program will launch initially in five local public hospitals. The system is set to expand to more than 50 local local medical organizations by the end of June next year.
Eight local firms make list of China's top 500 new economy enterprises

The China Enterprise Evaluation Association recently announced its official annual ranking of China's top 500 new economy enterprises. Eight Xiamen companies made the list, including Yealink, Sanan Optoelectronics, G-bits, Intretech, Hongfa Group, Double Medical, Xiamen Tungsten and Meiya Pico.
Xiamen Botanical Garden debuts renovated south entrance
植物园南门山海观景步道正式投用
The Xiamen Botanical Garden newly officially unveiled last Thursday the facility's renovated south entrance. The project included six sets of escalators extending more than 400 meters in length and almost 100 meters in height.
Both the escalators and the entryway's 460-meter-long staircases offer panoramic views of the Island Ring boulevard, Hulishan fortress and Nanputuo temple. The escalator runs from 7:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. daily.
The overhaul includes a 270-spt parking area. The south entrance can also be accessed by the number 49 bus.
The Xiamen Botanical Garden is currently applying for designation as a national 5A-class tourist attraction. Entry is free of charge at the garden through the end of the month.
Shielding completed for new stretch of subway system's Line Six

Subway officials last week announced that construction is now complete for the tunnel shielding of the section of Line Six that runs between the Dongran and Guanren stations. The completed section runs for 1.8 kilometers along Xinglin North road and Xinglin Bay road.
Bi-directional shield-tunneling beneath Line One's Guanren station is ready to proceed. The project will include tunneling through 32 foundation piles beneath Guanren station without disturbing the station itself. The shield tunneling machine will pass within one meter of the current structure of the Guanren station as it completes the new tunnel system for Line Six.
Hundreds of terns grace Island Ring boulevard

More than a hundred terns gathered alongside Island Ring boulevard, attracting significant groups of bird lovers and tourist photos. “I judge there are about 150 terns by my eye,” said Ke Yujun. “Most of them are sterna albifrons, though some are black-naped terns and rarely-seen pink terns,” Ke Yujun added.
Terns are migratory birds that migrate to regions in the southern hemisphere such as Australia in autumn and winter. They migrate to Xiamen and other places in southeast Asia to breed in the spring and summer.
The Xiamen Municipal Bird Watching Association suggested that birdwatchers maintain a minimum distance of 50 meters when watching terns. City regulations forbid interfering with or make aggressive gestures toward migratory birds.
XM releases semi-annual summary of construction and development

Xiamen representatives last week announced a summary of the city's construction and development activities in the first half of the year. The city's investment in fixed assets topped 17.4 billion yuan, accounting for just over half the annual goal. The totals included 5.6 billion yuan invested by the Jianan Investment Holding Group.
Project construction also continued apace. The period included 32 projects contracted and more than 2.9 billion yuan capital to the account, just ahead of the half-year forecast.
Other notable progress included the conclusion of land requisition and demolition in Nikushi village, which was completed two months ahead of schedule.
XM hosts China (Fujian)-Korea Cloud Art Show opening ceremony

This year marks the “China-South Korea Year of Cultural Exchanges” and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between both sides.
Xiamen last week hosted the opening ceremony of the China (Fujian)-Korea Cloud Art Show, which was livestreamed on media platforms such as XMTV, CCTV, Tiktok and Bilibili. Organizers said the event commemorates the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The ceremony included traditional art programs from both China and the Republic of Korea. The Cloud Art Show is hosted by Xiamen with guidance from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China's embassy in Seoul, the Republic of Korea's embassy in Beijing, the consulate general of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou, the Fujian Foreign Affairs office and the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
Tongan sunflower and lotus crops reach peak bloom

Tongan's sunflowers and lotus recently reached peak bloom. Representatives of Tongan's garden bureau noted that the district's sunflower field near Xixi park covers a planting area of roughly 2.5 acres. Workers seeded the sunflowers in mid-May.
The area is anchored by Wenbi Tower park, which debuted in 2019. The park features a 4,000-square-meter pond that includes 240 square meters of lotus flowers.
Six local firms make list of China's 500 most valuable brands

The World Brand Lab recently announced its annual list of China's 500 most valuable brands. Six locally-based brands made the list, including Golden Dragon, Iport Group, ITG, King Long, Xiangyu and Yinlu.
The annual report ranks brands based on items such as financial data, brand strength and consumer purchasing patterns. State Grid topped the chart with a brand value of 601.5 billion yuan.
The list includes 28 Fujian-based brands. Provincial companies on the list include 3trees, Anta and Jomoo.
XM construction value added hit 38.2B yuan in first half of the year

Xiamen representatives recently reported that local construction value added reached 38.2 billion yuan in the first half of the year. The total is up 8.5 percent year-on-year and tops in Fujian, accounting for 2.8 percent of the total in China. Construction value added accounted for 10.4 percent of Xiamen's GDP, boosting overall GDP growth by 0.8 percentage points. Value added by the Jianan Investment Holding Group reached 71.4 billion yuan, accounting for 52.7 of the annual goal. Jianan's total was up year-on-year by 21.6 percent, ranking first in Fujian. Construction output value reached 149.6 billion yuan, up year-on-year by 10 percent.
Construction plans set for Xiamen Municipal Archive complex

City officials recently announced plans for a new home for the official Xiamen Municipal Archives and the Xiamen City Construction Archives. The new facility will be located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Xiangan South road and Xiangan avenue. The complex will include a 21-story tower and a five-story podium. The facility will cover a total land area of 14,200 square meters and a total construction area of 67,700 square meters. Facility officials said that the complex will meet municipal storage and archiving needs for the next 40 years.
XM to open 30 child-care centers in 2022
今年计划建成30家普惠性托育园
Xiamen officials recently announced plans to   open 30 inclusive child-care centers by the end of the year. Nine of the centers are currently in trial operation. The city's plan calls for 19,000 openings for children under the age of three by the end of 2023.
