Dear everyone,
Wecordially invite you to the 2022 Annual Opening Ceremony of the Youth4AM SHSAT & Leadership Summer Camp on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM EST. Our guest speakers will share their thoughts on a selected topic with 200+ students from middle schools, selective high schools, such as Stuyvesant High School, Bronx Science High School, and Hunter College High School, and top universities, such as Havard, Yale, Cornell, University of Michigan, and Carnegie Mellon University.Testimonials from the current leadership and alumni will also be given on their experiences in Youth4AM and what the program has taught them.
The four featured speakers this year are:
Wai Wah Chin (founding president of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (CACAGNY)
Yiatin Chu (co-founder and co-president of PLACE NYC)
Ann Hsu
(
加州华裔社区领导
President of San Francisco Unified Board of Education)

Selena Chu (加州华裔社区领导,Co-Vice Chair for SFUSD Parent Advisory Council, Chair of Ulloa Elementary School’s School Site Council)
Connie Hsu(former co-president of Stuyvesant’s PTA)
Yiatin Chu, who has spent many years fighting for accessible high-quality education, will be speaking about the challenges of the new educational policy, and ways to maximize opportunities for educational excellence. Connie Hsu will talk about how intrinsic motivation plays a key factor in preparation for high school and college, and the importance of extracurricular and interpersonal development beyond academic readiness.
Through amplifying different perspectives, Youth4AM hopes to help students understand the complexities of real-life issues and guide students to form an objective understanding of the world using analytical thinking.
Youth4AM believes that leadership training cannot be done overnight, nor can one learn it purely from books. Compared to other leadership training camps, which only last for a few weeks and are often costly, Youth4AM designed a5-year program where TAs can manage a real program (SHSAT Prep Program) to practice the necessary hard and soft skills, such as leadership, teamwork, public speaking, and data analysis, to succeed in university and future careers. Furthermore, thanks to the volunteer work and dedication of NYRA (a federally registered 501(3c) non-profit organization), these training programs are completely free.
Youth4AM’s contribution to the community has been reported by various Chinese media platforms and has been certified or recognized by 10 local officials, including New York City MayorEric Adams, Comptroller Scott Stringer, New York State Senator John Liu and Toby Ann Stavisky, Assemblyman William Colton, and Councilman Peter Koo, among others.
Students in 7th grade and below, as well as their parents, can listen to why Youth4AM’s SHSAT Prep Program is the least costly, but also has high results: 78% of students were admitted to specialized high schools.47% of students were admitted to the Top 3 specialized high schools, which is largely equivalent to the mock test results:
1.Outstanding SHSAT results not only assured by professional teachers with more than 20 years of SHSAT experiences but also reinforced by no more than 1:2 TA mentor to Student ratio provided by High-quality TAs (a minimum GPA of 92) from Specialized and other top High Schools such as Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Hunter, etc.
2.Excellent Methods: The SHSAT Prep Program includes content designed by university professors and also TAs’ mentoring.
3.This summer camp not only prepares students for the SHSAT but also provides public speaking training, citizenship, Chinese cultural education, and more. Once students are in high school, they can apply for the Youth4AM leadership training camp with priority.
We look forward to seeing you there!
