Ennead of XM fairs and exhibitions launch in tandem

The spring edition of the Xiamen International Buddhist Items and Crafts Fair opened last Thursday at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center in tandem with the spring edition of the China Xiamen International Tea Industry Fair.
Other events launched during the five-day fair period included the Temple Architecture and Design Exhibition, the Vegetarian Food and Organic Products Exhibition, the Handicrafts Exhibition, the Floral and Horticultural Exhibition, the 2022 World Tea Package Design Exhibition, the 2022 World Emerging Tea Industry Exhibition and the 2022 World Green Tea Trade Fair.

The Buddhist Items and Crafts Fair covered an exhibition area of 120,000 square meters, featuring exhibits including Buddha sculptures, temple architecture, incense and incense burners, monk robes and various handicrafts.
The Tea Industry Fair, which has been held for consecutive 13 years, included exhibition areas featuring items such as branded tea enterprises, tea package design, tea sets and tea brands for the international market. Nearly 1,000 tea-related companies participated in the event.
Main structure completed on Xiangan bridge's trans-sea interchange

City officials announced last week that construction wrapped up recently on the main structure of the Xiamen side interchange of the upcoming Xiangan bridge, the Xiamen Second East Passageway. The bridge will close at the end of August and will open next year in January.
Kingsoft Cloud to establish regional HQ in XM

Xiangan representatives and the Beijing Kingsoft Cloud Technology Company recently announced a strategic cooperation agreement to build digital network in the district. The announcement included plans for Beijing Kingsoft Cloud to register a cloud computing service company in Xiangan as its business operation headquarters for southeast China. 
Siming topped XM districts in garbage sorting last month

City officials last week announced the results of its domestic garbage sorting assessment in May, with the district of Siming ranking first in Xiamen. The analysis covered more than 700 assessment points and canvassed sites such as street shops, housing complexes and public institutions. Haicang and Huli trailed Siming. Rounding out the rankings were Xiangan, Jimei and Tongan.
Haicang debuts new youth training camp

Haicang recently hosted the official debut of the district's new youth training camp. The new facility covers about 62,000 square meters and can host up to 500 students.
The Xiamen Cangjiang Camp is an around-school education site built by Haicang's education bureau along with the Xiamen State-owned Capital Operation Company and the Xiamen Science and Technology Museum.
The opening ceremony launched alongside the district's inaugural Urban Science Festival.
Xiamen exceeds major project investment goals in the year through May

Local officials announced recently a total investment of 85.1 billion yuan for more than 400 major local projects in the first five months of the year, accounting for 58.2 percent of the city's annual plan. Other announced figures included 118.1 billion yuan in fixed assets from January to May, up by 7.1 percent year-on-year. The city's Development and Reform Commission identified more than 100 financial investment and financing projects that will kick off in the second half of the year.
Online retail sales in XM top 17.6B yuan from June 1 to June 20

Local Commerce officials last week announced that online retail sales in Xiamen topped 17.6 billion yuan between June 1 and June 20, up 12.3 percent on an annual basis. The top three companies in Xiamen for online retail sales were Anta, Jomoo and Zijin Jewelry.
The top three commodity categories included textiles, which accounted for more than half of all sales, followed by household goods at 15.8 percent and household appliances at 5.7 percent of sales.
Online sales in Xiamen were 6.6 percentage points higher than the provincial average and 3.6 percentage points higher than the national average.
In the same period, Xiamen ranked first in Fujian and 13th in China. Physical goods accounted for 16.5 billion yuan in sales, up 14.5 percent year-on-year. Physical goods were 7.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average and 2.2 percentage points higher than the national average.

Fujian's industry and information technology department last week announced the province's official annual list of key industrial research and technological innovation projects. The list includes 52 projects, 12 of which are based in Xiamen.
Tongan to add pair of new school campuses

Construction is set to begin next month in Tongan on a new primary and secondary school campus that will be affiliated with the Municipal Academy of Education and Science. Work is slated to begin in October on a new Tongan campus for the Wuyuan Experimental School. Local officials described the facilities as part of an effort to ensure robust education offerings throughout the district.
Xiamen to build 2 new energy industrial clusters

Xiamen authorities recently announced plans to build a pair of new energy industry clusters, each with an output set to exceed 100 billion yuan in the next five years. The projects are slated to expand the local production of new energy materials for lithium batteries.
Major firms working on battery projects in Xiamen include CALB, CATL Xiamen and Hithium. The industry's labor force is expanding quickly, according to local officials, particularly in areas such as sales accountants, team managers and engineers.
XM releases hospital guide system for fever clinics

City officials announced last week the online launch of a hospital guide for fever clinics in response to a recent surge of local influenza cases. The guide is available on the 美丽厦门 智慧健康WeChat account.
Representatives said that the guide is designed to improve medical services and the patient experience at fever clinics. Data available online includes the number of patients on clinic waitlists and the number of doctors on duty in fever clinics at various local hospitals.
Stress-release companies flourish in Xiamen

Retail stores where guests can relieve stress through a range of games and activities has become a recent trend in China and in Xiamen. Common features at stress-relief stores include rooms where guests can break glass bottles, scream to their hearts' content and vent their frustrations. Local stress-relief outlets include a store at the E-Mall. Store owner Huang Hui said that he opened the venue in 2018. E-Mall currently offers almost 100 different activities designed to help customers ease their stress.
