据美国媒体报道，当地时间5月17日，美国国会举行不明飞行物（UFO）相关听证会。美国国防部一名高级官员证实，目前已收到近400份来自军方人员的“不明航空现象”报告。
美媒指出，这是50多年来，美国会首次就UFO问题举行公开听证会。
A House panel held the first public congressional hearing on unidentified flying objects in more than half a century on Tuesday, with top Pentagon officials saying the number of "unidentified aerial phenomena" (UAP), more commonly known as UFOs (Unidentified Flying Object), reported by pilots and service members had grown to about 400.

据CNN报道，此次听证会由众议院情报委员会的反恐、反间谍和反扩散小组委员会召开。
The hearing was convened by the House Intelligence Committee’s Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counterproliferation subcommittee.
负责情报和安全事务的美国国防部副部长穆特里（Ronald Moultrie）和海军情报局副局长布雷（Scott Bray）出席听证会并回答国会议员的提问。

召开听证会小组的主席、民主党众议员安德烈·卡尔森（André Carson）在听证会开始时警告说，不明空中现象（Unidentified Aerial Phenomena）是潜在的国家安全威胁。
Democratic Rep. André Carson of Indiana, the chairman of the panel holding the hearing, warned in his opening remarks, “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena are a potential national security threat. And they need to be treated that way.”
听证会上，布雷通过相关的视频和图像展示了观察到的疑似不明空中现象，并讲述了识别它们需要付出的努力。
During his testimony, Scott Bray showed video and images to demonstrate what observations of UAPs may look like – and the effort it takes to try to identify what they might be.
据英国《独立报》，布雷表示，目前没有检测到任何能够证明UFO是“非陆地”的东西，但研究人员会继续通过数据进行研究。
布雷还表示，就此类事件，美国与一些国家共享数据，一些国家也会与美国共享数据。
对于这些UFO是否可能是外星生命，穆特里表示，美国政府的一些研究人员正在寻找外星生命，美国的目标不是掩盖某些事情，而是从防御角度了解可能存在的事物。
“Our goal is not to potentially cover up something if we find something; it’s to understand what may be out there and examine what it may mean for us from a defense perspective.”
听证会进行了约一个半小时，结束后，众议院还举行了一次闭门的机密简报会。
The public portion of the event lasted fewer than 90 minutes. Following the conclusion of the public hearing, the panel held a closed-door, classified briefing Tuesday afternoon.
2021年6月25日，美国国家情报总监办公室向国会提交一份报告，包含2004年以来的144个被美国政府正式称为“不明空中现象”的事件。不过，该报告并未就许多关键问题给出明确答案。
