Panelists

Janis Naeve, Ph.D.

Managing Director, Amgen Ventures

Janis joined Amgen, Inc. in 2005 and is the Managing Director of Amgen Ventures where she directs the investments in biopharmaceutical and digital technology companies. Janis was selected to San Francisco Business Times’ “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business 2020”. Prior to joining Amgen, Janis held Corporate Development positions at X-Ceptor Therapeutics (acquired by Exelixis) and Aurora Biosciences (acquired by Vertex Pharmaceuticals). Janis earned her PhD in Pathology from University of Southern California and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology.

Kimberly Clemenson, MS, MBA.

Vice President, R&D Transformation, Amgen

Kimberly currently leads R&D Transformation and is a member of the R&D Senior Leadership Team. Kimberly joined Amgen in 2003 and has served in many diverse roles across the company. Kimberly started her career at Amgen in Operations spending 12 years in a variety of roles. From 2015-2017, when Prolia was marketed in 80 countries, she served as the Global Product General Manager. Most recent to her current role, Kimberly led the Amgen BeiGene Collaboration and a company-wide effort to accelerate the development of the most promising products in the portfolio.

Kai Zhang, PhD.

Senior Manager, Precision Dx Partnership and Project Management, Amgen

Kai leads the Precision Medicine Diagnostics Partnership and Project Management team at Amgen. He is a Reviewing Editor of Cancer Medicine, an Editorial Board Member of both the Journal of Translational Medicine and the Molecular Biology Reports. Kai is an advisor of the Amgen Biotech Experience Master Teacher Fellowship. He is also a mentor at Biotech Connection-Bay area (BCBA) to provide career advice for underrepresented students. He received his PhD from the University of Kentucky and is an incoming MBA Candidate at the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley.
