Study Sessions - Do Rocks Listen?

an exhibition by Karrabing Film Collective

Join a discussion group facilitated by ICA curators using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). Rather than exhibition tours, ICA Study Sessions are guided conversations based on curious exploration, critical reflection, and collective meaning making.

Each session will focus on a specific screening series.  Each Study Session follows immediately after the scheduled screening time for the series on which it will focus.  Participants may also screen the films on their own (onsite or online) before the study sessions.
Time: 2021-11-19 Friday 12:55-13:35

Artist Talk
Karrabing Film Collective upends the customary artist talk, in which an artist shares their knowledge, followed by questions from an audience to the artist. Karrabing members instead redirect their own questions to the audience, playing with dialectical reversal and the politics of (their) reception as Indigenous artists and making visible the gallery, cinema, and classroom as a field of power.
