KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement improvements to our real-time on-demand dispatching algorithm
Analyze data to understand each delivery at the lowest level of detail, perform cutting-edge research, and inspire new lines of work
Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product managers, business operators, and more to develop cross-cutting and scalable solutions to drive value for our consumers, dashers, and merchants
Receive actionable feedback and coaching from your mentor and team members

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

PhD. or masters student in operations research, industrial engineering, computer science or a related field graduating in Winter 2022 or Spring 2023
Research or industry experience working on complex optimization problems through mathematical programming or metaheuristics
Strong programming fundamentals, experience in object oriented and/or functional programming languages, and a solid understanding of algorithms
Strong communication skills
Excited to analyze, iterate, and contribute to our state-of-the-art real-time dispatch system

EXAMPLE PROJECTS

Forecast the supply of available dashers as well as incoming delivery demand
Iterate and improve our recommendation, personalization and ranking algorithms which have applications in several product areas like search, autocomplete and email/push communications
Build models for next generation pricing and pay algorithms
Improve models used in real time vehicle routing in major metropolitan areas, to help our dashers arrive at desired locations with little to no lag/latency
Predict preparation time for over 50,000 merchant partners

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Finished / about to finish a M.S., or PhD. in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or other quantitative field
Good understanding of many quantitative disciplines such as statistics, machine learning, operations research, causal inference, and deep understanding in at least one
Demonstrated familiarity with programming languages e.g. python and machine learning libraries e.g. SciKit Learn, Spark MLLib
Understanding of experimentation techniques e.g. A/B testing
