LEAP Career Workshop (LEAP职场说) is a newly started series of interactive workshops aimed at solving real problems in the workplace and empowering professionals to build successful careers.
During the second installment of the series on August 21, three dedicated LEAP mentors and accomplished cooporate executives and managers will be around at the zero-distance to demystify the secret recipe of effectively building a strong relationship with your boss:

  • Ms. Ruby Liao, Director of Enterprise Risk Management at MUFG.
  • Mr. John Zhuang, Corporate Legal Counsel and HR Director at BYD North America.

Haichun Chen
Haichun Chen is the Engineering Leader at Airbnb. He leads the team building foundational machine learning models and infrastructure to make Airbnb a safe and trustworthy platform for all. Prior to joining Airbnb, Haichun was the Head ofContent Knowledge Graph at Netflix where he applied deep learning techniques in NLP and CV to curate the best knowledge about entities in the entertainment world, which in turn is used in content/talent discovery and acquisition. He leveraged state-of-the-art models but also developed their own technology whenever necessary. Prior to Netflix, he led data science teams as a Group Manager at Adobe Inc. where his teams provided AI/ML solutions to enterprises such as Nike and Disney. 
Prior to Adobe he worked as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Google where he applied AI/ML techniques to combat abuse and anomaly problems for highly impactful products such a AdWords and Google Play. Prior to Google, he worked as Software Architect at Synopsys Inc. where he applied algorithms and system design to solve simulation problems for semiconductor design and manufacturing.
Ruby Liao
Ruby Liao is the Director of Enterprise Risk Management at MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group), responsible for risk governance and GRC transformation. Prior to joining MUFG, Ruby was the Manager within Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting Practice. She specialized in operational risk management, third-party risk management, regulatory remediation, compliance transformation, process improvement, project management, and internal audit with a proven history of delivering client excellence. 
Ruby has managed sophisticated and strategic projects domestically and internationally to provide solutions that reflect underlying strategic business needs and industry leading practices across a wide range of risk and compliance disciplines. Ruby has worked in the US, China, Hong Kong, and Korea.
John Zhuang
John Zhuang is Corporate Counsel and Interim Director of Human Resources at BYD America Corporation. He currently oversees all of the company’s legal and human resources operations in the United States and Canada. Prior to joining BYD, John represented a variety of entities ranging from Fortune 500 conglomerates to startup technology companies. His experience includes mergers and acquisition, business development, and government and regulatory affairs work for the automotive, aviation, and clean technology industries. He also has experience advising governments and nonprofits with clients that include City of Santa Clarita, City of Gardena, and the education reform nonprofit StudentsFirst. 
John received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law (King Hall). John is a licensed attorney with the State Bar of California.
