做孩子的“情绪教练”
几个谈话小技巧,让你的孩子受用终身!

我们每个人都有情绪。从婴儿到成年,人的一生都在不断学习有关情绪的知识以及识别情绪、处理情绪的方法。家长如何帮助孩子在日常生活中更好地学习和处理情绪,拥有更好的情绪管理和调节能力,成为一个情绪稳定、高情商的宝宝?

吴琼,美国佛罗里达州立大学人类发展与家庭科学系助理教授,博士生导师。2012年毕业于北京大学元培学院心理学专业(本科),2018年毕业于美国俄亥俄州立大学人类发展与家庭科学专业(婚姻家庭治疗方向博士),主要研究方向包括母亲抑郁对儿童情绪社会化和情绪调节的影响以及对此问题的家庭治疗。发表论文三十余篇,一作文章发表于Child Development,Emotion,Research on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology,European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry,和Journal of Affective Disorders.

要成为孩子的情绪教练很简单。家长们可以在日常对话里谈论一些和情绪有关的知识。以下是一些常见的例子:

写给家长的话
儿童天性会感受到各种各样的情绪。情绪指导我们的行为,帮助我们与别人交流,以及理解我们自己。比如,愤怒告诉我们自己的边界受到了侵犯,需要去抗争,而悲伤和恐惧能够引发别人的关爱。有些父母可能会担心儿童的负面情绪,从而限制其的表达。然而有问题的从来不是情绪,而是情绪的表达方式(比如感到愤怒是正常的,但是不应该因为愤怒而去打人、摔坏玩具,而应该去合理沟通、宣泄、或者转移注意力)。善于作为情绪教练的父母可以作为一个容器,他们不试图抗拒自己或者孩子的负面情绪,他们接纳自己与生活的不完美。他们会把儿童体验到负面情绪的时刻作为一个教育儿童、增(查)加(漏)韧(补)性(缺)的机会。他们能够把过失作为成长的加油站,也作为一个与孩子增强情感沟通、增进相互理解的时刻。而体会到父母这种包容度的儿童,尤其是对于负面情绪的包容度,能够拥有更强的自信心,更加积极地面对生活中的挫折;他们也知道挫折不可怕,可以从中学习,而父母一直会是自己坚强的后盾。
情绪教练并不是提高儿童情绪管理的唯一方式。分享这个概念更多是给父母一种思路,如何将对于情绪知识的引导作为日常亲子互动的一部分。比如在看电视、读绘本的时候,父母都可以停下来问问,“你觉得主人公感受到了什么情绪?如果是你你会怎么样处理这样的情绪?” 或者使用日常的例子,比如孩子的朋友、亲戚经历的某些个人事件,父母可以问“你觉得怎样可以帮助TA呢?” 把这些时机作为儿童学习情绪知识、提高情绪调节能力的机会,儿童可以更加有效地学习情绪知识,在将来也可以成为自己或者他人的情绪教练。
