4月13日，日本政府正式决定将核污水排海，美国国务院发言人内德·普赖斯和美国务卿布林肯随后相继发推对日本这一决定表示“赞赏”和“感谢”。
美国国务卿布林肯发推：“我们感谢日方在决定排放福岛第一核电站处理水上做出的公开透明的努力。我们期待日本政府继续与国际原子能机构进行协调。”
内德·普赖斯发布的美国国务院声明也对日本政府福岛核污水入海的决定表示了支持，认为日本政府的这一决定透明且符合全球标准。
Responding to Japan’s decision, the US State Department said in a statement, “In this unique and challenging situation, Japan has weighed the options and effects, has been transparent about its decision, and appears to have adopted an approach in accordance with globally accepted nuclear safety standards.”
美国国务院在一份声明中对日本的决定做出了回应：“在当前独特且具有挑战性的情况下，日方权衡了各种选择和影响后做出了这一透明的决定，该决定似乎与全球认可的核安全标准相一致。”
然而，据美国食品药品管理局（FDA）4月更新的第99-33进口警示，一系列日本食品仍被禁止进入美国。

涉及的日本食品包括：牛奶、黄油、干奶制品；鱼、海胆、蛤蜊等海洋生物制品；肉、肉制品和家禽（牛肉，公猪，熊，鹿，鸭，野兔和野鸡产品）；蔬菜、柑橘柚类水果奇异果等等，涉及青森县、福岛县、宫城县、长野县、枥木县等多地。
值得注意的是，FDA强调：“由于与辐射和核污染有关的公共卫生问题，FDA已加强对日本管制产品的监视。”
Due to the public health concerns that are associated with radiation and nuclear contamination, FDA has increased surveillance of regulated products from Japan.
赵立坚：美国身体很诚实
在15日的外交部例行记者会上，赵立坚说：
日本别以为得到了美国的感谢，就吃了定心丸。美国身体很诚实。一边点赞，一边禁止日本大米、鱼类等产品进口。美国食品药品管理局强调，由于辐射和核污染相关的公共卫生问题，已经加强对日本受管制产品的监管。对美国这种政策，不知日本方面作何解释？
Japan should not rest assured just because the US has "thanked" it. The US has been quite honest in actions.While giving thumbs-up to Japan on the one hand, it is banning Japanese rice and fish imports on the other. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stressed that due to the public health concerns that are associated with radiation and nuclear contamination, FDA has increased surveillance of regulated products from Japan. How would Japan explain this policy of the US?
赵立坚还表示：
日本一些政客费尽心机想要证明核废水“清白”，那就请他们把核废水用来饮用、做饭、洗衣服或者灌溉，请他们保证海产品不会被核废水污染，请他们接受国际原子能机构建议，同包括中韩在内的有关国家合作成立技术工作组开展评估。
Some Japanese politicians spared no effort to prove that the nuclear wastewater is harmless, then they should use the water for drinking, cooking, laundry and irrigation; guarantee that sea food won't be contaminated; and accept the advice of the International Atomic Energy Agency and set up a technical working group with relevant countries including China and the ROK to make assessment.
