为了保护个人隐私，北京、上海等城市流调报告出现一大变化：新增确诊病例流行病学调查报告（epidemiological investigation）中隐去了病例的性别、年龄、籍贯等个人信息，以涉及区域和场所的信息披露为主。

1月23日，上海市卫健委公布的流调报告中“只提地点不提人”；北京市于1月24日公布的新增病例情况也隐去患者年龄和性别。这两次适度的信息披露做法引发不少网友点赞。
