这家拥有85年历史的维生素和膳食补充剂公司背负了近10亿美元的债务，在疫情爆发之前，实体店的销售额一直在下降。
新冠病毒更是雪上加霜，造成公司无法完成再融资计划。
GNC表示门店将继续运营，但会缩小运营规模。计划关闭1200家门店, 占总门店数的(5800家零售店) 中的20％。
对于很多留美小伙伴来说，GNC是我们最先熟知的保健品品牌之一，在各城市都有门店，每次回国探亲前,都会去GNC采购一大波,当做伴手礼，葡萄籽,蛋白粉,玫瑰水,芦荟胶都是价格好深受喜爱且实惠的单品。GNC也成为国内亲友喜爱的保健品牌。
这个门店遍布全美, 保健品的首选零售商为何面临破产？其实GNC隐患在几年前就埋下了...
多重因素重创GNC
电商和其他品牌的冲击
但分析师表示，从2015年起，它地位就已经开始动摇, 并且迅速失去市场份额。沃尔玛（Walmart），塔吉特（Target），CVS都入驻了各种保健营养品牌, Costco的自主品牌Kirkland的保健品也深受喜爱。近几年，电子商务的兴起也削弱了GNC的主导地位，消费者转向在亚马逊和其他折扣网站购买保健产品，门店的生意也每况愈下。 
产品线转型慢
Fitch Ratings的高级主管David Silverman表示，这家零售商因“增肌的营养品”出名，但婴儿潮一代（40s-60s出生）更多喜欢的是自然健康，营养的保健产品，对于这群保健品的消费主力来说，GNC的转型过于缓慢。
店铺集中在二三线城市
许多GNC商店都位于二三线购物中心，人流量没有办法跟一线城市比。
大量债务危机
到2016年，GNC的销售和利润都开始下降。公司还利用大量借入资金积极回购股票，这使它在负债累累的同时还欠下了沉重的债务。


巨额的债务给公司的财务状况蒙上了一层阴影。2015年的利润总额为2.19亿美元，一年后转为亏损2.86亿美元。最近，GNC面临8月份到期的1.6亿美元债务偿还，还有明年3月到期的另外4.5亿美元债务。
