I’m usually really embarrassed about selling a course. I’m not a businessman. This article is difficult for me to write. I’m just a small town prairie boy from Canada who all of a sudden found himself in China working every day recording courses, shooting videos, managing douyin accounts, teaching broadcast classes, and even being recognized on the street as 大白老师!! It’s still very surreal. 

一想到自己要去卖课这件事，通常我会感觉特别“窘”，因为我天生就不是做商人的料。所以其实这篇文章我写地还是挺费劲的。作为一个来自加拿大草原的普通小镇男孩，来到中国，我现在每天录课、拍视频、运营抖音号、上直播课，甚至成为了会在街上被粉丝认出来的“大白老师”，一切就像是做梦一样！
I’m fortunate that Alex discovered me on Douyin when I was trying to make my own videos. He saw potential in me that maybe I didn’t even see in myself. Canadians, especially from the prairies, are low key and humble. He gave me a chance to show the world what I can do. 
我当年在抖音尝试做自己的视频时，很幸运地被Alex发现了身上的潜力，而我自己甚至都没意识到。加拿大人，尤其是来自草原地区的人都低调谦虚，不善于表现，是Alex给了我一个向世界展示我自己的机会。
I’m also lucky to find Alex because we share the same passion for teaching and making a difference in the world. We are very proud of sending our pronunciation course to anyone who wants it for free. 
遇见Alex，我的另一个幸运之处就是，我们都是对教学和改变世界都满怀激情的人。能把我们的发音课程免费送给每一个有需要的人，我们很自豪。
English is my first language and many Chinese struggle with standard pronunciation. Some companies will charge tons of money for simple pronunciation courses, but we felt giving this course away for free was the right thing to do. How are children or teachers in China, especially from the countryside, expected to improve their pronunciation without resources to help them? We are both very proud of this decision.
英语是我的母语，而我看到了很多中国人会为了达到标准的发音而苦苦挣扎。针对这一需求，有些机构会对简单的发音课程，定很高的学费，但我们认为免费赠送发音课程是一件正确而有意义的事情。否则，中国的学生何老师，尤其是那些来自于农村的，在没有可用的材料的情况下，该如何提升自己的发音？我们两个人都对赠课这件事情引以为豪。
I’ll give you another example of how we share the same ideas about teaching. While recording our 天天练 course, sometimes we would record the same course 5 or 6 times, until we felt it was perfect. We were not content to make a mediocre course. We wanted to do the best we possibly could. We wanted the course to bring joy to our students. 
从另一件事也可以看出我和Alex在教学理念方面的共同之处。我们在录制「外教口语天天练」课程的时候，有时会坚持反复录制5、6遍，直至达到满意的状态为止。如果做出来的课程只能达到一般水平，我们是无法接受的。我们要竭力做出最好的课程，并希望这个课程能给学员们带去学习的快乐。
This year we had an idea. We wanted to make a course that included everything. From learning how to pronounce simple sounds to being about to speak with the confidence and fluency of a local English speaker. So 6 months ago we began this long process. 
今年我们设计了一套新的口语学习解决方案。我们想做一个包含从学习简单的发音，到能像英语国家的人一样自信流利地说话，所有内容的课程。从6个月前，我们就开始了这个漫长的创作历程。
Even though English is my mother tongue, I can’t say this was easy. Alex and I spent months writing and recording our 天天练 course. I spent many days alone in the studio recording our 100 real life English classes and 43 articles. I spent hours and hours every day in front of the camera recording sentences that students can clearly understand and imitate. We debated and even argued about how to make this course as useful and exceptional as possible. 
尽管英语是我的母语，可对于我而言，制作这个课程也并非易事。单是录制「外教口语天天练」，就用了我和Alex几个月的时间。我花了好多几天的时间，把自己关在录音室里录制了100集的「外教实景英语课」，并写了43节外教课程的教案。每天几个小时，我会在摄像机前录制用于方便学员们观看和跟读模仿的视频。我甚至会跟Alex激烈探讨，如何才能让这套课程更加的实用高效以及卓尔不群。
In the end we recorded over 860 classes. But I don’t want you to think “大白你辛苦了.” I would like to acknowledge the team we have at Yolotalk. I am in front of the camera, but the most important members in my opinion are behind the camera. Our editors work so hard to make the courses look so amazing. Many of the staff members work overtime every day to respond to questions students have and manage public accounts. Alex gets so excited about this course that he promotes it until he loses his voice! 

最后我们总共要录制860多节课。但我不想让大家觉得是“大白你辛苦了”，我衷心地想向优乐说团队表达一下感谢之情。我是出现在镜头前的人，但我认为最重要的成员是在摄像机后面的人。我们的编导团队精益求精，让课程呈现出了最佳的效果。还有很多小伙伴每天都会加班解答众多学员们的问题，以及运营公众号。在8月20日的发布会上，Alex非常动情的不断向大家推介安利这个课程，以至于第二天嗓子几乎失声了！
I’m just a small piece of a bigger team filled with positive and hard-working people. I feel a sense belonging at this company but also a sense of responsibility. I know how hard everyone works so I strive to work as hard as I can too. 
在公司里，作为这个由满怀正能量又勤奋的小伙伴们组成的大团队中的冰山一角，我感受到了强烈的归属感，更有一种责任感。看到每一个人都在如此努力地工作，我也在奋力拼搏，与大家并肩前进。
This brings me back to the part that is difficult for me. I don’t want to take anyone’s money. But this course is so comprehensive, includes so many classes and so much useful content for your daily life, and has required us to put our blood sweat and tears into it. I usually avoid the business aspect of teaching, but even I was shocked when I saw the price. The real price of all the content combined is over 6000RMB. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Alex was willing to sell it for 699RMB for one year, 899RMB for 2 years, and just 999RMB for life. I thought he’d gone crazy!
接下来是我本人非常不擅长的环节了。说到赚大家的钱，我确实挺难启齿的。但是这套课程中，包含了海量丰富的课时，日常生活相关超级实用的内容，并且为了制作这套课程，我们确实付出了大量的心血。我是不习惯从商业的角度看待教学的，但即便是我，在看到这套课程如此亲民的价格时也受到了震撼。整套课程的实际总价值超过了6000元，当听到Alex要以699元/年，899元/2年，999元/终身的超低会员价格上架时，我觉得他一定是疯了！

However, I would recommend buying it for life. 999RMB and this course is yours forever. I will be your life-long English teacher. I’ll be in your pocket every day.
