I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the cello. But I’ve never found the time to enroll in a class. Or, perhaps more accurately, I haven’t made the time for it. I had thought that in heaven I could probably master that instrument. In the meantime, I wanted to focus on using my time in the particular ways God has called me to serve Him now.
我一直都想学拉大提琴，但我总是没有时间去学。或者更准确地说，我并未安排时间去学大提琴。我常想或许在天堂的时候，我会把大提琴拉得很好，而且现在我想专心事奉，只把时间用在上帝要我做的事情上。
Life is short, and we often feel the pressure to make the most of our time on Earth before it slips away. But what does that really mean? 
人生短暂，稍纵即逝，我们常常觉得应该善用在世的时光。但到底该如何善用生命的时光呢？
As King Solomon contemplated the meaning of life, he offered two recommendations. First, we’re to live in the most meaningful way we can, which includes fully enjoying the good things God allows us to experience in life, such as food and drink (Ecclesiastes 9:7), clothing and perfume (v. 8 nlt), marriage (v. 9), and all of God’s good gifts—which might include learning how to play the cello! 
当所罗门王思索生命的意义时，他给了两个建议。首先，我们应该尽力以最有意义的方式来生活，这包括好好享受上帝赐给我们生命的美好事物，例如美食佳饮（传道书9章7节）、服饰香水（8节）、家庭婚姻（9节），以及上帝一切美好的恩赐──这可能包括学习拉大提琴！
His second recommendation was diligent work (v. 10). Life is full of opportunities, and there is always more work to be done. We’re to take advantage of the opportunities God gives us, seeking His wisdom on how to prioritize work andplay in a way that uses our gifting to serve Him.  
所罗门王的第二个建议是勤奋工作（10节）。生命充满机会，总是有更多工作需要做。我们应该好好把握上帝给我们的机会，寻求祂的智慧，知道如何平衡工作和休闲的时间，以我们的恩赐来事奉祂。
Life is a wonderful gift from the Lord. We honor Him when we take pleasure both in His daily blessings and in meaningful service.
生命是上帝所赐的美好礼物。当我们每日以上帝所赐的福分为乐，并喜乐地按祂的心意事奉祂，便是尊荣上帝了。
Father, thank You for this life You’ve given me. Help me to live this new year for You, enjoying Your blessings and fulfilling Your purposes.

Ecclesiastes 9:4-12   NIV

9 Anyone who is among the living has hope[a]—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! 5 For the living know that they will die,but the dead know nothing;they have no further reward,and even their name is forgotten. 6 Their love, their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished;never again will they have a part in anything that happens under the sun. 7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do. 8 Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. 9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lotin life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead,where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom. 11 I have seen something else under the sun:The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong,nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned;but time and chance happen to them all. 12 Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:As fish are caught in a cruel net,or birds are taken in a snare,so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.

Ecclesiastes is a book about despair over the futility of life in a broken world. This idea is captured in Solomon’s repeated phrase, “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless” (1:2). But Ecclesiastes also offers hope in the midst of that futility. In chapter 3, Solomon says that God has put eternity in our hearts (v. 11). While fully engaging in the world and the times in which we live, followers of Christ can also look ahead to eternity with God.
传道书讲述了在破碎的世界中，生命的虚空所带来的绝望。所罗门反复重述的一句话更充分表达了这个观念，他说：“虚空的虚空，虚空的虚空，凡事都是虚空”（1章2节）。但在这种虚空之中，传道书也提供了盼望。在第3章，所罗门说上帝已将永生安置在我们心里（11节）。基督徒虽然生活在现今这个破碎的世界里，但却拥有永恒的盼望，而且将来能与上帝永远同住。
