最近收到很多邮件祝贺节日祝福，写着的都是 “Happy Holidays”，生活了27年，突然间脑袋灵通，为什么这些公司都不说 “Merry Christmas” 呀？ 大街小巷都挂满着 “Merry Christmas” 呀，我心想为什么有些就祝福 Happy Holidays 而不是 Merry Christmas呢？

所以今天早上（平安夜）在准备这个文章的时候，我就搜索了一些关于 Merry Christmas VS Happy Holidays。
圣诞节越来越商业化了，大部分的商店都有 Christmas Sale！但是还有很多人在意着它的宗教本质，最好的一个例子就是是我的家乡，因为有不同的种族，有时候这些简单的祝福语也变成政治的游戏（我是马来西亚人🇲🇾 - 所以中文不是很好，这边文章可能有很多错别字，请见谅）。所以很多时候，一句简单的节日祝福语也有可能会引起其他人的不适。

12月不只是有圣诞节，还有其他宗教的节日。东正教的圣诞节不是在12月24日，而是1月7日。还有很多地方，伊斯兰教信仰者对圣诞节很敏感，伊斯兰教信仰者是不过圣诞节的。而犹太教教徒过的是光明节。犹太人的光明节（Hanukkah），犹太历的基斯流月25日起延续八天。基斯流月是在公历的11月或者12月左右。刚好今年的 Hanukkah 将会从 12月24号开始，也是我们所认识的平安夜。所以，为了避免不必要的误会，有些人倾向于对同学或者同事说“节日快乐”而不是“圣诞快乐”。

圣诞节最初只是宗教节日，基督徒们相信这一天是耶稣降生的日子。
