Some people think that the government should ban dangerous sport. However, others think that everyone has freedom to choose whatever sport activities they like. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

There are conflicting views about whether the government should prohibit dangerous sports. Both sides of the argument will be discussed in this essay, followed by my own perspective on this matter.

People who suggest that the government should stop people from participating in dangerous sports may have following argument. There is no doubt that governments are established to improve individuals’ well-being. If dangerous sports were disallowed, this policy would lower people’s risk of getting injured, improving their health, which serves as the foundation of their well-being; it would also prevent some children from imitating violent behaviours in sports (boxing) in their daily life, helping with controlling crime rates, thus better protecting the public against misbehaviours. Hence the government is responsible for banning dangerous sports.

Nevertheless, for those who think that everyone can do whatever sports they like with no restriction, they can also justify this opinion. From one perspective, dangerous sports will not definitely lead to injuries because most high-risk sports impose strict requirements for participants; they need to meet certain physical conditions or be trained to acquire certain skills to perform the sports safely. From another perspective, teachers and parents can teach children correct moral values to prevent them from copying violent movements in real life and adults can also inspire children to develop resilience and courage by involving them into dangerous sports.

In my opinion, as there are many measures that can be taken to protect participants in dangerous sports, I support the statement that everyone should have the freedom to choose what sports they play. However, to avoid injuries, it is necessary for authorities to ensure that participants are equipped with appropriate skills.
