在经华乐丝编辑润色过的论文中，我发现很多to被改成了for。请问for和to有什么不同？例如，to do something和for doing something有什么不一样？

一、以下是需要修改的动词不定式例句：
原句：Section 3 presents the new approach based on mean absolute deviation to measure the degree of similarity between generalized fuzzy numbers.
修正：Section 3 presents the new approach based on mean absolute deviation for measuring the degree of similarity between generalized fuzzy numbers.
在这里present这个动作的主语是section 3，并不和measure直接相关，而measure是在研究较早阶段已经发生的行为。在修正句中，使用for measuring替换to measure，可有效避免产生歧异。
请看另一个例子：

原句：The proposed website follows the configurations of Facebook to post messages, comments, likes, and gifts.
修正：The proposed website follows the configurations of Facebook for posting messages, comments, likes, and gifts.
在这个句子中，configurations促使post这个行为发生；相较之下，follow网站的设定或配置并不直接导致post行为。
我们通常会使用下列注解来说明这类修改：
Please note that this verb phrase must modify “_____” rather than the act of “_____”; using “for _____” instead of “to _____” mitigates this ambiguity.
（请注意，此动词短语必须修饰____而非修饰____的动作；使用for___替代to___可消除此歧义。）
二、以下是不需要修改的动词不定式例句：
• Diatom frustules were added to a TiO2 paste to prepare a TiO2-diatom paste mixture.

在该结构中，执行add是为了实现prepare这一目的（add行为可解释为准备过程的一部分）。
又例如：
• Lin et al. employed an HHT-based time-frequency method to analyze the FP1 EEG signals of clinical alcoholic and normal observers.
此处，analyze…表目的，employ作为实现该目的的手段，因此不需要修改这个句子。
