今天我们继续学习The Alchemist《牧羊少年奇幻之旅》的P150-157。快到埃及的最后两天，炼金术士和少年Santiago在一片巨大的沙丘突然被骑兵军队包围了，后来被带到了军营。在生死关头，炼金术士告诉军人说，少年有借助风来摧毁营地的特殊能力，而且还说他能变成风。
这真的是非常的奇幻，我们一起来读一下这个精彩的选段：
The desert didn’t answer him for a few moments. Then it told him,“l'll give you my sands to help the wind to blow, but, alone, I can’t do anything. You have to ask for help from the wind.”A breeze began to blow. The tribesmen watched the boy from a distance, talking among themselves in a language that the boy couldn’t understand. (P150)
注意这里的desert是沙漠，它和单词甜点dessert就差一个字母s，虽然读音不一样，但写的时候一定要注意不要写错了。
这段话是说，沙漠半天没有回应，后来才告诉少年，“我可以为你奉上我的沙子，以便让风刮起来。但我自个儿做不成这件事情，你啊求风帮帮忙吧。”
我们来重点看一个单词Breeze，在原文里面它是一个名词，可以理解为a gentle wind，一阵微风，比如：
A light breeze is blowing.
一阵微风在吹。
We are enjoying the cool breeze that comes from the lake.
我们享受着湖面上吹来的凉凉的微风。
在口语里，Breeze的名词形式还，可以表示，a thing that is easy，轻而易举的事，比如：
It is a breeze.
这事儿不费吹灰之力。
Don’t think that learning English will be a breeze.
不要以为学英语是一件很轻松的事儿。
除了以上两个意思，breeze还经常和一个介词搭配在一起：breeze through，表示to do something with little effort or to achieve something easily，轻松完成，轻易通过，举个例子：
Jim breezed through the final exam.
Jim毫不费力地通过期末考试。
Michael breezed through the task.
Michael轻松地完成了这项任务。
那Breeze还有一个很地道的俚语表达叫做，shoot the breeze，shoot是开枪，shoot the breeze，往微风里开枪？这似乎说不通啊。
但其实它的真正意思是，to chat casually or have an informal conversation about unimportant things，也就是聊天，闲聊，这让我想起粤语也有一个类似的俚语叫做“吹水”，吹水并不是说真的把水给吹走，而是指闲聊的意思。我们一起用shoot the breeze造几个句子：
Tom and I were sitting on the porch, shooting the breeze.
Tom和我坐在门廊里闲聊。
Customers always want to shoot the breeze with me at the store before they buy something.
顾客在店里买东西之前总喜欢和我先闲扯一番。
I just shot the breeze with John for a while when he passed me on the street.
我在街上遇到John，所以和他闲聊了一会儿。
