问：简要介绍一下你的故事吧
答：我从高中毕业，成为班上最优秀的学生之一，并在美国排名前25的学校上大学。我最初是一名生物学专业生，主要是因为我个人对这个行业的兴趣，但在几个月内，我意识到我完全不知道自己在做什么。
所以，我转学到一所规模小得多，知名度较低的学校。它甚至没有在全国范围内排名，并且在投资银行业务中总共只有大约3-5名校友。
我最初的时候还在坚持学习生物学，但经过两年的课程后，我开始对它失去兴趣。我的室友是一名经济学专业的学生，在与他，商学院的教授以及3-5名校友交谈后，我转而学习经济学。
我发现我更喜欢经济学，但我的起步较晚，在我大三的时候几乎不可能拿到金融方面的实习，更不用说在投资银行实习了。我申请了比其任何人都多的实习，可能申请了500多个，但没有任何效果，因为我的所有经验和课程都是在医疗保健方面。
我了解到会计师事务所的估值小组，并了解了其技能集如何与IB角色相关，因此我给自己选择了一个会计，评估和财务建模的速成课程。然后，在我努力改变了我的技能背景之后，我在一个非四大的公司拿到了一份工作。
大约9个月后，我开始为进入IB进行networking。我每周花10到15个小时进行信息访谈，电子邮件和电话会议，并在大约9个月的求职后，在一家华尔街投行拿到了IB全职分析师的职位。
问：在最开始的时候你是如何努力使自己的背景更加靠近IB的条件的？

答：当然。 标准策略适用于会计师事务所的估值职位，但在我开始寻找IB角色时，我必须变得更有创意。
最初，我向银行家发送了大量cold email，共收到0个回复。那是因为我的故事很单薄，没有相互联系; 另外，我看起来并不像一个IB行业的理想候选人。所以，我改变了策略，开始给银行决策者写实体信件。如果他们可以在1秒内忽略我的电子邮件，则至少需要5秒才能打开我的信件并决定是否阅读。
问：那你是怎么找到他们的地址的呢？
答：如果你思考一下就会发现其实它比查找电子邮件地址更容易：只需在Google地图上查找银行的地址即可！我在LinkedIn上搜索银行家的名字和姓氏，并将其与谷歌地图的地址数据结合起来发送信件。
在我发送实体信之后，我也通过电子邮件跟进了。如果银行使用电子邮件地址的格式是中间名或姓名缩写，我搜索了FINRA注册以查找该信息。
写信解释我的背景，故事，以及为什么我想在银行工作的过程非常费时（最初每封信约1小时），但是后来我找到了帮手帮我节省时间。我在Upwork上聘请了一名虚拟助手，为我收集数据并起草信件，因为这部分会花费大量时间。然后，我检查每封信并进行了少量修改，我每周发送一次这些信件。 如此一来这个过程变得如此精简，我每周可以轻松发出20封信。
问：你的主要目标是哪些银行呢？你后续如何跟进的？
答：我最初专注于医疗保健和科技集团，但银行家一直告诉我与行业无关。我接受了他们的建议并开始研究其他行业，因此我可以讨论各个行业的趋势和交易。
我从华尔街九大行开始，然后逐渐往下寻找较小规模的投行。我发了一封实体信后，我会等一个星期，如果我没有收到任何回复，我会通过电子邮件跟进。如果我仍然没有听到任何消息，我会在几天后跟进，并且每隔几天就会继续跟进一两个星期。

答：我把我的故事简化为基本要素，并避免了过多的“解释性”内容。例如，我遗漏了关于转学到一所不太有名的大学的部分，因为它根本不能帮助我突出我的优势。我也避免提到我大学的名字，因为它并不为人所熟知，而且我已经有了全职工作经验。
我的故事梗概：
开始：进入大学，我主修生物学。 我的家庭成员有医学背景，我也想进入这个行业。
转折点：中途，我意识到这不适合我，我发现我对经济学更感兴趣。
不断增长的兴趣：我喜欢经济学，但我也想要更实际，更有实践性的经验，所以我对投资银行和估值感兴趣，因此有了我现在的经验和职位。
抢先一步反对：我在这个过程中起步较晚，所以我无法完成IB实习。 但估值工作似乎是次佳选择，我觉得技能组合也适用于IB角色。

3）坚持不懈。
如果除了学术背景和工作经验之外还有银行家关心的任何事情，那一定是你有没有坚持不懈的精神。
有些人会跟踪候选人与他们联系的次数，并推荐尝试次数最多的人，即使他们从未对这些候选人做出回应！
