Today, employers tend to judge a candidate’s ability based more on academic qualifications than personality or life experience. This essay will discuss the factors contributing to this trend and why I think this is a negative development.

其他的经历, 生活经历性格很容易造假
This phenomena arises due to several reasons.  The primary reason is that some employers seem to think that academic qualifications best reflect how well a person can  master professional knowledge and skills.  As most qualification  organisations apply very strict standards in order to qualify a professional,  employers tend to assume that employees with a  suitable qualification as more capable than those without.  Furthermore,  it is very difficult for a person to fake academic qualifications, whereas, life experiences and personality can easily be fabricated.   For example, one can easily pretend to possess particular desirable characteristics in an interview so as to mislead an employer, which renders such criteria unreliable.

I think that  employers’  preference on  qualification over experience is negative because they may fail to source capable employees. Specifically, academic qualifications cannot accurately demonstrate a person’s practical ability to undertake everyday tasks, as most qualification tests only examine a person’s academic abilities under strict test conditions, which can easily be achieved (surpassed) by last minute “cramming”, and do not demonstrate a person’s real employability.  Even though some academic qualifications can properly reflect a person’s mastery of expertise,  life experiences and personality are very important to judge whether a person can cooperate and collaborate with colleagues smoothly or not, which is crucial to an employee’s productivity at work .
