美国网站Quartz近日发表了一篇名为《当中国人发给你一个笑脸符号，它其实并不是在传递你看到的表面意思》的文章，详解中国人运用表情符号背后的深意。

文章称，尽管大家都很熟悉表情符号，但在不同文化中，同样的表情会有不同的意思。文章还提供了一个快速指南。

笑脸

Smiley face

☞On the surface: Happiness.

表面意思：开心。

☞Below the surface: A despising, mocking, and even obnoxious attitude.

深层意思：鄙视、嘲笑甚至讨厌的态度。

☞Background: The upper “muscle movements” here could explain why the face is considered less friendly and more hostile.
